Guys … the last movie specifically told us Bond would be back, even though Daniel Craig would not. This isn’t hard.
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

Well, the evils of streaming finally caught up to me. Five years ago, I purchased Ric Burns PBS New York documentary from Amazon. I watched it repeatedly with no issues. Now, some genius changed the aspect ratio for episode 8 to 4:3, cutting off the image. Naturally, nothing can be done. 😔

Pirating new albums is another skill lost to time.
A guy in Michigan got a fluke preorder and put it up for sale on Facebook for $25. A nearby Swiftie bought it but didn't own a CD player, so she got one from Walmart, then realized you can't burn files to a computer this way so is just playing them in a Discord voice channel for thousands of people

It's not *quite* sweater weather yet, but it IS the first day of fall. So here is lovely Kim Novak in a nice cozy-chunky sweater.

The cinematographer of Star Wars, Gilbert Taylor, shot A Hard Day’s Night and Dr. Strangelove too.
Ok folks: what is your favorite fact that you share with people (maybe a bit too) eagerly?

Two thumbs down. WAY down.
The paper of Gene Siskel (and Dave Kehr, and Michael Wilmington, and the great Michael Phillips) will no longer have a film critic.

One of the many reasons it’s tough to trust the media is that they treated Biden’s decline as a serious story, but they continue to give a free pass to whatever this is.
Trump: "When you go to a voting booth, and you do it the right way, and you go to a state that runs it properly, you go in -- they even asked me, they asked me for my license plate. I said, 'I don't know if I have it.' They said, 'Sir, you have to have it.' I was very impressed actually."

I understand the need for context and the sensitivity to backlash. Lennon/his estate have received way too much guff over the years.

However, I am NOT AT ALL in favor of trying to sanitize history and pretending problematic art never existed.
John Lennon & Yoko Ono’s Some Time In New York City receives a massive expansion with Power to the People, a 12-disc box that contains the One to One concerts and apparently not a single occurrence of the album’s single “Women is the N***** of the World.” ultimateclassicrock.com/john-lennon-...

So apparently, it may turn out that The Wizard of Oz at the Las Vegas Sphere wasn’t entirely made in AI and Google threw the VFX crew under the bus by claiming it was all done by artificial intelligence.

If true, then fucking yikes.

It's fun how my physical media ownership strategy has moved from "What stuff do I like?" to "What stuff do I need to make sure I have in a readily available format no matter what," like I'm stockpiling for the apocalypse.

I wrote about Sydney Sweeney, a celebrity whose image is so semiotically potent, and yet ideologically unfixed, that the whole question of What She Means becomes contested political territory.

I have a question about the presentation of the original THAT’S ENTERTAINMENT (1974). Why are certain 1.37 clips blown up to fill a 1.85 aspect ratio? Most of the 1.37 shots are correct. Was this the way it looked projected? Maybe @selfstyledsiren.bsky.social knows?

No McCartney tix for me. No accessible seats and the lowest price is $800. Pretty sure I’ve seen my last show of his. Eight shows is a good run.

Quote from a friend after I told him McCartney tickets were going for $1K:

“If Jimi Hendrix rose from the dead and charged $1000 for a show, I’d wait until it was YouTube. lol”

BREAKING: The Supreme Court allows the Trump administration to move forward with the abolition of the Department of Education. It gives no explanation for its order. All three liberals dissent. www.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

I don't think I have *ever* seen an op-ed that told conservatives to climb down off their high horse, be the bigger person, and reach out to their left/liberal family members. It's just assumed that hard-right folks won't change, and nobody should ask them to.
They claim they want to be a paper for everyone across the political spectrum, but if they really believed that, they’d publish these didactic pieces telling parents not to snub gay children, too.

SUPERMAN may be the goofiest superhero movie I’ve ever seen - and I mean that in the best sense of the word. Absolutely ebullient fun. A little overstuffed? Yeah, but the spirit is so giddy, I didn’t care. This is the live action movie most like a comic book, and that’s all to the good.
