I’m starting a gratitude thread (mostly for myself) as a small record that through the grief and exhaustion of this present moment, I found small pinpricks of light in all the darkness.
I can't tell anyone what they need to feel today. Feel what you feel. And also you don't have to stay at the hot take factory and read everything that comes across your timeline.

Touch Grass.
Drink a glass of water.
Call a loved one.

Take care of yourself, beloveds 💛

I really hope that there's a Pritzker Camp of Rest and Relaxation for Weary Democrat Reps Serving in Red State somewhere in Illinois.
Pritzker: Neither Texas nor the FBI at the federal level has the authority to arrest these Texas Democrats

They’re welcome to visit to take in the great views and enjoy the incredible restaurants we have. But they won’t be taking anyone home with them, or out of the state.

The best Fantastic 4 movie is The Incredibles.

Thank you and I will not be taking questions at this time.

What’s the must annoying thing about breaking your elbow and being stuck in sling? Not 100% sure yet but every man over 50 interrupting my existence to inquire about my injury only to tell at length about their rotator cuff surgery is definitely up there.

Friends, don’t break your elbows!

There's a very real chance that I am too tender for this place, but I've been surprised lately how mean it has gotten here. I'm angry and exhausted, too, but I also want to still have a soul tomorrow and everyday after.

It is unbearable to watch an entire people starve. It should be unbearable. I know that we're tired. I know that feeling powerless sucks. I don't want to go numb and watch my heart turn to stone. I see you, Gaza.

UnitedHealthcare is raising premiums for policyholders in New York and Washington after spending $9B on stock buybacks last year.

Healthcare companies are robbing you blind to enrich their executives and shareholders.

Today we honor the legacy of the extraordinary John Lewis, who taught us about the power of getting into "good trouble" for the sake of justice and equality. As I remember his unwavering commitment to civil rights, I draw inspiration from his courage to challenge wrong and stand up for what's right.

Update: very minor elbow fracture 🙃
Woof. Ran into a curb on accident yesterday on my ebike and sprained my elbow. Embracing taking the next few weeks slower or trying to as I'm the pastor of the week at camp starting tomorrow.

The fight is not over. I do not care if I am called naive. What other choice do I have but to resist?
I've seen a few "anyone who thinks they can stop this bill is naïve" posts this morning, and like... okay? Your point?

I don't fight based on whether or not I think I can win. I fight based on whether or not I think it's right.

Letting them coast into this horror show without a fight is WRONG.

I got permission to share this, and I'm extremely grateful for that.

The Onion got this letter from one of our subscribers in Alaska. She works with dementia patients and decided to leave a copy in the car for each one.

This email made my year. Read it and you'll see what I mean. People are good.

Call your senators! Senate Switchboard: (202) 224-3121
BREAKING: Senate Republicans are taking votes right now to jam through their awful bill.

They don’t want you to know all the bad votes they’re taking.

I’m making sure you know EXACTLY where they stand and what they’re doing.🧵

We cannot process everything all the time at once and verify that info. If you’re feeling nervous, scared, anxious, your brain/body might be telling you to take a break. So go outside, take a shower, call a loved one. Our ability to respond and care for others depends on our own care.
Everyone's nervous right now, and w/ good reason. It doesn't hurt to take the time to verify your information before sharing it.

And bluntly: I don't want to be that person, but Middle East geopolitics is complicated, so please ask yourself if the 23 year old on TikTok really has the inside scoop?
