It’s common to say that social media was a mistake. I understand that logic.

But in my local context I’ve spent this week in a lot of struggle I cannot speak of.

I’m comforted by the stars of hope on the far horizon, as here night seems without end.

Such stars form constellations to navigate by.

And fuck Chuck Schumer right in the ear.

Well, if my local precinct is representative, the PA Supreme Court retention elections were easily "Yes" for all three Dem justices for in person votes.

There were considerably more GOP in person voters, as usual for this precinct.

13 hours in, we have topped 700 voters in my voting precinct. Also doing well at getting rid of the Hallowe'en leftovers.

Bag Class at @stitchcentral ! The last class of this session, in which we made (some of with some difficulty) the Zippy Bag by Sallie Tomato. There are three side pockets. How many times do you think I sewed the pockets closed when trying to attach various pieces to the zippers' sides? 1/4

Mmmm, hot honey.

@btrwkart.bsky.social
I know Patrick from my writing circles

He's a physics teacher who lost his job for the audacity of pointing out Charlie Kirk was a monster, actually, on Facebook.

He's a beekeeper and makes some truly excellent hot honey.

Do the thing, maybe.

Styles. I tell every associate I work with now that every draft they give me better have styles set up properly or I will send it right back to them to fucking figure it out. Got damn but I hate how non-styled headings or numbered lists get fucked during revisions.
I @kathryntewson.bsky.social used to fix my Styles in every document.

Until one day she had about 10 better things to be doing for @akivamcohen.bsky.social and I was fucking *stuck*.

I took a law office technology class online. Whatever the work equivalent of "it saved my marriage" is, that.

The assassination of Charlie Kirk makes we worry we can no longer have peaceful discussions of whether gays should be stoned to death or civil and collegial debates about whether black people are inherently inferior. Our culture will suffer.

Done. Or mostly so
as always, there are bits needing hand-stitching because I could wrestle those spots under the needle at the end. But I'm not good at actually doing those final touches, so I am declaring it one as-is.

Progress report. Inner pockets have been sewn to the lining panels. There was a bit of frankensteining needed for one panel due to shortage of the aqua.

So many many months ago, a bidder in this charity auction won the custom crocheted blanket item I offered. She gleefully selected her colors and then showed extraordinary patience as I blew multiple aspirational completion dates.

But it's done and ready to ship.

But it also made me sob.

God I remember this heat wave. Inliced on the third floor of a walkup, spent two nights sleeping on the floor of my work office until I could get a window unit. Once it was installed, I closed myself in that room and left the rest of the apartment to swelter on its own.
I know what you are asking.... what happened.

Well see, we had an epic heatwave in Chicago in 1995 that killed over 700 people while meteorologists joked about frying eggs on pavement and when that was over we were like oh shit... maybe we should rethink a bit how we treat heat. /6
