For the past year, we’ve run regular Resource & Resilience Centers to help bring LGBTQ+ folks in Western North Carolina. These events grew from weekly supply drives to cover basic essentials in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, to monthly gatherings where people can find joy, hope, and community.

A new federal rule would ban gender affirming care at virtually every hospital system in the country.

Now, an organization says they've prepared, have private clinics and financial aid ready for families that need them.

Today, several new federal rules impacting healthcare for trans youth were proposed. We want you to know that these rules are not yet finalized or in effect. We also want you to know that despite these attacks, gender-affirming care for youth remains accessible at many clinics.
December 18, 2025 at 8:45 PM
We want to be clear: These proposed rules would NOT amount to a national ban on care. The rule applies to hospitals – not private clinics or clinics that do not reimburse through insurance. Care will remain legal in many states.
1. The federal government has just attempted to enact a national trans youth care ban.

A new HHS rule would shutter most gender-affirming care for trans youth nationwide.

It violates multiple laws and the constitution, and will likely go into effect in a few months.

Nationwide Trans Youth Care Ban Imminent As Trump Admin Announces "Nuclear Option" Federal Rule
The new federal rule formalizes previous threats to hospitals to pull Medicaid funding, and represents a significant legal stretch by this administration.
