The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.
Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.

It’s pathetic that random groups of Chicago area moms are better at fighting fascism than their senior senator
Durbin voting to advance the new GOP deal to end the shutdown. Retiring No. 2 Democrat. Schumer, his former roommate, is a no.

What do you call a leader with no followers? Just a guy taking a walk.
He's not just a senator. He's the *leader*. His job isn't his personal vote. His job is to unify and lead his caucus against the regime.

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

People think the past was all LEAVE IT TO BEAVER but really it was more like THE HONEYMOONERS
People wildly overestimate the economic security experienced by past generations. There's no period in American history where significant numbers of young people were just handed high paying jobs. Nostalgia for a time that never existed is a huge problem.
Why Nikki Haley’s son went radical: His generation inherited insecurity.
