Reposting outside of a thread bc this deserves to stand on its own.

Trans rights are human rights, now and forever. To debate some level of ’acceptable’ curtailing of trans rights is to call the very nature of universal, inherent human rights into question.
At a certain point it’s necessary to sit with the fact that we’re “discussing“ real human beings.

At that point it’s not an abstract difference of opinion to be debated. It’s a difference in who we consider fully human, deserving of full rights, vs. those whose freedoms we are willing to sacrifice.

This is so important because A) she did it in response to Benedict Wong, a far more prominent actor, saying he's listening to the audiobooks a lot and B) did it unprompted, she specifically stopped the fluff interview to draw the comparison to the themes of their film and support trans people.
You’ve got to love how actress Kelly Marie Tran, one of the most harassed people ever to be on the internet, still leapt up to defend trans people in a recent interview. No one would blame her for keeping her head down and shutting up forever but she will NOT and I admire her for it ⭐
Star Wars actor says ‘trans rights are human rights’ when asked about Harry Potter
Kelly Marie Tran said ‘trans rights are human rights’ when the topic of JK Rowling's Harry Potter series was mentioned in an interview.

This is a great guide on how you can help support protestors even if you live outside of Minnesota. Note, especially, the bit about Ring cameras.

In my ongoing attempts to give you a break from *gestures widely* THE HORRORS:

Let's talk about the utterly bizarre science of cats' purring.

Here's a weird starting point:
There are NO cats (Felidae) that can BOTH roar AND purr.

Cats that roar = genus Panthera
Cats that purr = genus Felis

Need less ‘the call to heroism has inspired me to be who i was always meant to be!” narratives and more “this fucking sucks and I don’t want to be here but someone has to do it and goddamnit it looks like that’s me” narratives imo.

I was having a low grade panic attack most of the day, but I countered it by walking some stuff over to the community fridge.

If you’re also feeling helpless, I recommend doing something similar on a local level. It’s not gonna fix the world, but helping your neighbors is a great lil start.
