"I yearn for you tragically.
R.O. Shipman, Group Chaplain"
From Catch-22, when Yossarian got bored censoring the men's letters home, and so censored everything except this final line from the introverted Anabaptist chaplain, who lived in a tent in the woods on his own, to avoid the other officers.
What's the most random/obscure thing you quote?

In "The Stand' by Stephen King (complete/uncut ed iirc), a character called The Kid would sometimes say "how do you like that happy crappy?" and I often say that to myself/out loud for various reasons lol.

Inflation adjusted that’s €45k to get Crosby Stills Nash and Young on stage. I suspect Neil is getting a wee bit more than that for Malahide in June.

Santana and Grateful Dead surely an absolute steal?

The Assembly is compelling viewing, the soundest of guests (Sheen, Tennant, Dyer, Lineker) interviewed by an amazing panel of very talented people with a range of disabilities. I was basically laughing or crying the whole way through. I can't recommend it enough. See it on Virgin Media in Ireland.

People who cycle are often accused of cycling "in the middle of the road".

What they really mean of course is cycling in the middle of the lane, and there are lots of good reasons why people do this, explained succinctly in this @davewalker.bsky.social cartoon for @cyclinguk.bsky.social

And I absolutely didn’t pay any attention to the chaps in tweet 4. None at all 👀👀

Hurray to everyone giving folks a lovely sight while they ride. Get those tops off while you pedal Londoners! 🔥🔥🔥
Just when you thought London couldn't feel any more glorious, up pops this fantastic bit of cycling infrastructure - TULIP WANDS 🌷🚴‍♂️🌷🚴‍♂️! They’re being installed on Sussex Gardens and are an absolute joy to behold and causing all sorts of delight, as we discovered…

For those of you who can't bring yourself to read about Peter Thiel, Elon Musk & their new aristocracy built on billionaires, at least watch this short clip. If you don't understand how AI & technology are taking over our government & your lives, you're missing the main game. They want you dead.

This is ridiculous, where is the traffic management plan. Cycling is a legitimate from of Transport.
Nobody should have to dismount, clearly Jonathan can't. I explained this was a concern.
Pedestrian to mix with people cycling from two-way to in a very narrow section of roadway.

Absolutely infuriating but sadly not surprising. Huge amount of careless, aggressive, and downright reckless driving in Dublin these days.
Came upon a child injured on the footpath on the walk to work. A lady was there with them & had seen a van knock them off their bike on a narrow stretch of road, only to keep on driving🤬😡🤬. We waited with them until a parent arrived. I hope the child is ok & that this driver is found & prosecuted.

This was a punishment pass, for not using the on-path cycle lane (which doesn't go where I was going) presumably?
Is it worth reporting to Dublin Bus?

It is so obvious here that he had the easy choice to stay away from you, but chose not to. He is using his professional device as a weapon against you. If Dublin Bus doesn't see it, they are complicit.

I’ve been witness 5 times now . Complete waste of time. Gardai going for dangerous driving where it should have been FCN. Prick solicitors attack me and my x account. Distractions and lies everywhere and judges buying it. Why I’vee stopped reporting but for most serious

Great thread outlining how inefficient court system is, & why Gardaí are so reluctant deal with “minor” incidents.
Some judges have concerns on sargeants as “presenter” of number of cases, so individual Gda has to attend. Huge reform needed, online attendance, video statements, etc

I was at Dun Laoghaire District Court today, after getting a witness summons for a case where I had reported a driver using their phone. First time in 20-ish years of reporting drivers! Here's some findings from a process improvement POV.
1) The Garda had to call to my house to hand me the witness

🛑 Why are cities banning ads for airlines, SUVs, and fossil fuels?

A growing number of towns & cities worldwide are saying NO to high-carbon ads. Here’s why this movement is gaining momentum, from my latest piece in @theconversation.com🧵👇

Many cities are banning ads for airlines, SUVs and fossil fuels – and yours could be next
Billboard ads for airlines, SUVs and fossil fuel companies are now prohibited in cities like Edinburgh, Sheffield, Stockholm and Toronto.

Just had a call there from a Garda in Mayfield, Cork about a TrafficWatch incident I reported with a car there. I told him I haven't been in Cork in three years!
Looks like the call centre in Castlebar mixed up two reports, one was mine!
