Whoohoo! IT HAS ARRIVED!

I gotta admit, the thrill of opening a box of freshly published books with my name on them never gets old. Thank you, @bloomsburyacad.bsky.social for a great author experience thus far.

I hope those of you with an interest in the subject enjoy the new material! #booksky

Why did Jeffrey Epstein cultivate famous scientists?
The Epstein files revive questions of whether the disgraced financier sought to merely cultivate famous scientists, or to shape science itself

This discourse won't die bc the issue was not really "how can I get laid?"

That's just a way to personalize & disguise the real question: "how can women be returned to the status of chattel so that I have less labor market competition & get free domestic & sexual labor to boot?"

THAT's political.
I don't think "how can I get laid?" is a question for the state to answer.

I also don't think "treat women like they're people," while good advice, will resonate with men asking how they can succeed at treating women like objects.

While this makes me very happy (because anything that foils the Russians makes me happy), it’s also a timely reminder to all modern militaries that their tech toys can also be points of weakness. They’re all vulnerable in various ways. Better keep training in lower tech fighting and other skills too

reminded that hamish mcsubstack's 2023 explanation of why he takes nazi money is: "Given that, we don’t think that censorship (including through demonetising publications) makes the problem go away – in fact, it makes it worse.."

This is false. Like it's false false. Very false.

I spoke to @juliango.bsky.social about the imperial boomerang and how US war tactics abroad are being employed at home by ICE

"America’s cities are treated as colonial zones of conquest and imperial borderlands because that’s all ICE knows. If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail"

IMO this is how a real leader behaves, classy, selfless, drawing attention to heroism and virtue in others, in sharp contrast to the punk so desperate for accolades and acclaim they whine loudly and often until people give them fake and second-hand awards just to shut them up.

One positive though: I will never let imposter syndrome infect my psyche ever again.
the Epstein files are really devastating because they remind me of how many girls and women miss out on professional opportunities, mentorship and careers because of how many powerful, rich and influential men only view girls and women — and interactions with them — through the lens of sex

For fuck's sake this is not "how men behave" it's how abusers behave. To whatever extent it's how too many men behave, it's because those men are abusers.

And people who cater to abusers ... are also abusers. David Gelernter should never be allowed near students again.
Yale prof David Gelernter defends his letter urging Epstein to hire "v small goodlooking blonde" student by saying that he was "keep[ing] the potential boss's habits in mind."
