I saw the South Park movie in a packed theater opening night. My friends & I weren’t old enough to see an R-rated movie & went to a theater we knew wouldn’t check IDs. It wasn’t widely known it was a (very good!) musical at that point but the crowd was down & lost their shit for every song
I remember my showing of django unchained was packed but I don't remember if it was opening night- either way the most raucous crowd reaction I've ever been a part of was when jamie foxx shoots the creepy sister character and she flies off the screen looney tunes vaudeville hook style
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?
Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
