For real, I am so tired of explaining to colleagues that all it does is pattern-match. That Apple paper showing its reasoning conks out after about 37000k tokens? Is because humans *rarely write out every detail of long-form reasoning* because we don't have to and it's boring. No examples.
Also I’m sorry but I don’t think this is Claude developing a personality or ethical values. It is *simulating* those things because that is what humans value and reward. The programmers are falling for their own Clever Hans trick!

Highlighting, because the sad (structural racist) reality is that many people will take the absolutely abhorrent treatment of people in the US's immigration detention camps more seriously if its happening to someone that they identify more closely with.
Listen to this. Not a penny more for this. Abolish and prosecute anyone who had anything to do with it.

I can understand some of the "you don't negotiate with the people building camps" sentiment and argument (ok, all of the sentiment actually!).
But since they obviously *are* negotiating, I'm surprised I've not seen any hard asks by grassroot orgs:
