Today's the day! My new book MORE EVERYTHING FOREVER is finally out! If you want to understand why tech billionaires are so obsessed with impossible ideas about space and AI — and why that's dangerous — this book is for you. #MoreEverythingForever www.hachettebookgroup.com/titles/adam-...

Also, Sauron's "security" famously failed! He let two hobbits (three if you count Gollum) sneak INTO HIS HOME to destroy his most valuable possession! This is just so phenomenally stupid and awful and cringe

Someone remake “It’s a Wonderful Life” but Mr. Potter believes that hoarding is morally required so he can devote resources to delivering a far future with trillions of humans while George Bailey is like, “Gosh Darnit! What if taking care of people today is what takes care of people in the future?!”

I agree, but I suppose I'm biased. 😁
Just finished reading More Everything Forever by @adambecker.bsky.social. Probably one of the best books about the tech industry, its prominent figures, their ideologies, and motivations. I think everyone in the tech industry should read this book.

If I decided it was too much bother to clean my house so I moved into an igloo in Antarctica for the rest of my life, you'd think I was awful stupid.
Tech bros deciding they'd lose too much profit if they stopped destroying the Earth because they can move to Mars someday is even stupider.

I haven't done a final count yet, but I think I've read about 80 books this year and I got to go back and triple check which ones I enjoyed the most etc, but I could go ahead on the record and say this is the one that has stuck with me the most and is the most urgent

Also, it's really well written

One of the most important books I've read this year, from
@adambecker.bsky.social.

It's a devastating read at times—you'll find yourself shouting at the book "how can they be that goddamn crazy???!!!"

But it's critical to realize that they are.

A really lovely list here from @justinhendrix.bsky.social and @techpolicypress.bsky.social, and I'm not just saying that because my new book is on it. Read these books!
For many, the end of the year is an opportunity to catch up on reading or to purchase books as gifts. In 2025, a number of authors joined the Tech Policy Press podcast, providing fresh insights into how technology interacts with people, politics, and power. Check out the list:

Any article observing that the AI bubble is about to burst *but then suggesting AI is too important to our financial systems to be allowed to fail* is missing the point. Generative AI is a massive fraud and a brain drain on humanity, even leaving theft and resource issues aside.

Scientists are "skeptical" of this the same way I am "skeptical" that the moon is made of green cheese.

This is pure hype created to justify pouring more money into the AI bubble.
Space-based AI data centers are Big Tech’s latest fad and Silicon Valley’s newest investable venture.

Yet, scientists who study space remain skeptical of the idea.

The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

Come on, @propublica.org. Putting aside all of its other harms, AI degrades our communal understanding of what truth is. Good journalism relies on that. You're giving up on the actual talented people who do the work you rely on in exchange for something that will ultimately kill your business.
1/ At bargaining yesterday, @propublica.org management said that they should have 100% discretion to replace workers with AI and would not commit to labeling future AI-generated content.

One of the most useful books I read this year
Just finished More Everything Forever by @adambecker.bsky.social - really thorough and humane joining-of-the-dots between AI, effective altruism, SF, cosmism and plutocracy that arcs, as most things should, toward the inevitable conclusion that Le Guin was right about everything
