The "We need a Joe Rogan of the left thing" is bizarre because there is already a Joe Rogan of the left, he goes by HBomberGuy and the fact that his channel doesn't check their boxes is why the people demanding a Joe Rogan of the left in fact do not actually want a Joe Rogan of the left

A key difference here is that while either can be incorrect, the structure of Wikipedia *creates context* and the structure of LLMs *destroys context*

Wikipedia has linked sources and an edit history showing where information came from and who added it when

An LLM just generates text
Some of the anti-AI stuff feels a bit like when people would say "don't use Wikipedia as a source." It's just like anything else, a piece of information that you weigh against multiple sources and your own understanding of its likely failure modes

Israeli forces killed Palestinian rescue workers in Gaza’s Rafah, firing on one ambulance after another. The Red Crescent wants an international probe.

So who were the medics Israel ambushed on March 23?

I support the US garment industry. I don't believe in making life harder for immigrants or erecting blanket tariffs. So how can we reshore some of our US garment manufacturing without xenophobia or protectionism? Here's my view. 🧵

I taught a US citizenship class to South Sudanese refugees in Nebraska, 2006-2007. Fleeing civil war, they worked arduous jobs at a meat packing plant. Many had no literacy in any language.

But they studied hard for a citizenship exam which many native-born Americans would not be able to pass.

People don't miss manufacturing jobs. They miss the effects of having 30+ percent union density. And we can build worker power again, with good policies, for the jobs most working class people actually have today rather than hoping mumbo jumbo will make it 1955 again.
When (some) people talk about bringing back manufacturing, they mean "bring back steel & auto jobs that someone can take right out of high school, and live a middle class life"
The worst part of this is that even if manufacturing jobs came back because of this (they won’t)
and even if Americans retooled for those jobs (they won’t) those jobs sucked! It’s like demanding to return to being a farming society. People fled that life the instant they could, in the millions!

I hate to be the one to say it, but this has been missing from nearly all the commentary–

Gang members deserve due process rights as much as anyone else.

Disappearing them is as much a crime against humanity as disappearing unaffiliated men.
