At one point I knew the algorithm for the Monster Rancher games that would generate a monster for you based on what disc you inserted into your PlayStation. I was using something similar for a game I was building and it was part of my research

In the MMORPG "Pirates of the Caribbean Online," there were these extremely overpowered enemies called "Rage Ghosts." They were insanely hard to kill, and if you succeeded, all you got to loot was a weird Santa Claus style party hat.

The announcement of the "dark mode icon" was the typical passive-aggressive jab at light-mode, so I thought them making it a glowing white butteryfly was some kind of internal passive-aggressive spat amongst devs about it or something.

In v1.110, Bluesky now has a dark-mode app icon — for anyone who thinks light mode should require a content warning.

I think, BECAUSE it's wrong, it creates discourse, and negative attention is still good.
Currently, companies don't want to do what's best, they just want to market

I haven't gotten this update, but sheesh, legit dumb
I think it’s moronic that they made the BlueSky butterfly white in the app’s icon. How fucking stupid can you get. Blue is in the title of your app but the icon is basically only white and black now. Fucking unreal.

The Siralim games used to have a trait that made all enemies share one giant health pool. This trait broke the shit out of most boss fights because it ignored invincibility, so it was revised to a "damage spreads across all enemies but do less damage overall effect." The trait was Anomaly iirc.

In Golgo 13: Top Secret Episode for NES, you have 52 lives. This is because each life represents a weekly episode or telecast, as part of a show’s schedule for a year. The number in the lower left is the episode count.

The reason why the date of Geese's death in the Fatal Fury 1 ending is always in the early 1900s is not due to some typical localization screwup. It is based on the Neo Geo BIOS clock which wraps back to 1900 after the turn of the century. Neo Geo has the dreaded Y2K bug.

all equipment effects in nioh 2 are applied in a specific order and any non-additive modifier (like life drain on yokai ability hit) will be overwritten by later instances of the same modifier. this means that whether you assign an ability to X or Y will sometimes directly affect your stats
