pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

there are no "legitimate concerns" about immigration. there are "legitimate concerns" about how poorly a country is run for the people who live there by the powerful and lies about how this is the fault of immigrants and not the powerful.

A story that I will tell until I'm blue in the face, that I will ensure is carried down from one generation to the next, is of the sex education class my mother got at school. It's the 1970s in Ireland, so naturally they're being taught by a nun.

Easy to blame people seeking asylum to avoid the fact that FF have been in government, more or less, for the entire history of the state

My mechanic has been looking into the car today and can't replicate the clutch issue (makes sense since it only ever happened to me in heavy traffic) but worse, when he tried to turn off the engine, it.. doesnt stop
Had a breakdown in the traffic on the N7 last night and was stuck on the hard shoulder for 3 hours waiting for a recovery truck to get to us so here are the highlights/lows of that time

A real leader with courage & backbone and would have been out on the plinth at Dáil Eireann at 1000 this morning saying that this has gone too far and has to stop.
They would have called out the tech giants & the liars who use their platforms to spread hate.
Ireland clearly has no such leaders.

Every minute without a strong statement from the Irish government about the arson and attempted murder in Drogheda is another minute of silent acquiescence to the far right - by remaining silent, the govt is making it very clear which side they are on.

Simon Harris is a coward and a bully who would rather scapegoat innocent communities of vulnerable people rather than face up to the failures of either his government or himself as a leader, a Cabinet minister and a human being. Couldn't think less of him and have no problem saying it.
