I got engaged today at a comics shop in Paris! Me and my friends made a short comic to ask my partner to propose, and he said yes!
Me and my partner Dante are reading the comic I made for him to propose to him. He's wearing a brown bomber jacket, and I am wearing a trenchcoat. In front of us are various comics in the store we got engaged in. A picture of me and my partner hugging after he said yes. We can see his black backpack with a few pins adorned on it, and a ring box in my hand. We are both very emotional. A photo of us showing off our rings. The proposal rings are simple golden bands. He has purple metallic nailpolish on, while I have none. A photo featuring the cover for the proposal comic. It is lying on a bed sheet with a flower pattern. The cover is me and my partner running to each other backed by a purple and pink sky. The cover is a reference to a scene from Final Fantasy 8, and we are dressed as characters from the game to match.

Hazel and I gave a presentation for some senior illustration students at Emily Carr today! Unfortunately I didn't get any photos but I do have this slide from our powerpoint to share with everyone.
"Our most important advice: If you have never finished a comic before, make a >30 page comic before starting a large one. I literally cannot stress this enough."

Comics in general is an excellent media for hiding little details in the art or the dialog.

In a movie or animation you might miss things because of timing, but a panel you can analyze as long as you like.

Even a shift in characters demenour or the way a speech bubble is drawn could be a clue!

sometimes you must slow down and actually read the words written in the speech bubbles. You are going too fast. You are not comprehending the words in the order they are written. You are guessing.
