It's great to read about the ingenuity & resiliency of school leaders finding new ways to deliver basic mental health services to students. But again, it would be great if articles like this would note how the Leandro Plan would address these issues if legislators would simply fund the Plan

SNAP has existed for 60 years. Benefits have gone out every single month over those six decades, including during government shutdowns. Until now.

Make no mistake: The money is available to fund SNAP during this shutdown. Trump is making a choice to withhold it.

tuckermaymysteries My name is Tucker May. In April I married the love of my life, Barbara Marques. Right now I fear for her life. A week and a half ago she was taken by ICE at our properly scheduled green card meeting at the Federal Building downtown. At the end of what we were told was a successful meeting, the officer used the excuse of a broken copier to trick her into walking away from our lawyer. Once separated from her legal counsel, she was arrested. The reason for her detention was a missed court date from 2019 which my wife was never notified about. We have been working with lawyers since that time to correct the situation. The Adelanto detention center has actively been keeping my wife from correspondence with her lawyer by delaying in giving her documents that were mailed to the facility. Last night, she was taken from the Adelanto facility to an undisclosed destination despite our lawyer having filed a temporary restraining order to stop this from happening. They could be sending her anywhere in the world and we have no way of knowing. I'm asking for help in bringing to the attention of media and authorities these multiple lapses in due process and proper procedure through the unwarranted deportation of a woman whose legal marriage has been duly recognized as legitimate by immigration through the 1130 petition process. Please, if you have any contacts who could help, send them this information.

If the (wildly popular) governor of Kentucky can say this with his whole chest then what excuse does the (wildly unpopular) governor of California have?
Trans issues have been especially divisive for Democrats in the wake of the 2024 election, when Republicans used the subject to cast Kamala Harris and other opponents as out-of-touch. Newsom, another possible 2028 contender who visited South Carolina last week, drew backlash from activists and some liberal colleagues this year when he said “it’s deeply unfair” for trans athletes to participate in women’s sports. In South Carolina, Beshear was eager to talk about how he had handled LGBTQ issues, however. “I vetoed it because it was the right thing to do,” he said of the bill in Kentucky. “I said my faith teaches me that all children are children of God, and I didn’t want people picking on those kids.”

Since April 4, #SCOTUS has issued 15 rulings on 17 emergency applications filed by Trump (three birthright citizenship apps were consolidated).

It has granted relief to Trump ... in all 15 rulings.

It has written majority opinions in only 3.
