one of the coolest things about ChatGPT is how you can actually just never use it. you can fill your whole entire life with simply not once using it. it's incredible.

I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

The real “Dolores”? I was recently commissioned to create a pencil sketch of Aquilops - a dinosaur which I’d never really paid proper attention to. In the l course of my research I became a bit obsessed and felt compelled to also create this more detailed illustration as a personal project.

I always thought my trouble with horror movies is that I don’t like to be scared. What I’ve realised is that I have a psychological defence mechanism to disengage from characters who do stupid things that put them in danger. To be scared for characters you maintain engagement with is a real treat.

Ok fine.
AI advocates have warned that if every author in the class action filed a claim, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry.
Authors celebrate “historic” settlement coming soon in Anthropic class action
Advocates fear such settlements will “financially ruin” the AI industry.

People really ought to be more embarrassed about putting shit like this up in public.
This mural has gone up in Kingston, ostensibly for Christmas but AI has ensured it's actually to celebrate the return of our dark lord Cthulhu

The team were clearly hoping to make another Mr Bates vs The Post Office, but I’m not sure anyone expects politicians and the press and the police to behave well any more. Hard to convey quite what they did wrong these days. We don’t even *expect* privacy.

I'm not positioned to be a black Friday Frances but if you do buy a drawing it will come with a hand written note including a unique bespoke improvisational tiger. Which is almost as good as a discount.

Hello, these pieces of interesting art are still available and I really want more people to know about them and be on board. Also buying them would help immensely and prove your bonafides #bonafides

Odyssey review: Enemy of the estate agent
Gerard Johnson delivers another violent journey through a distinctly London brand of low life with a film about an estate agent in debt to gangsters.

A film series that switches to George Lazenby for one movie, switches BACK to Sean Connery for one movie before landing on Roger Moore is now worried about the character dying.

Film universes are a blight, film canons are a curse, continuity is its harbinger, and we are all poorer for its presence

The impossible dream some people on the British right are chasing is that you can have a BBC News operation that retreats from detail and expertise, that takes dictation from the government, but this will only create incompetence and failure when it suits you:
To fix the BBC, focus on competence and cash
Corporation fails to learn from criticism, while politicians have consciously reduced its scope for quality journalism
