After some discussion with Jene, I'm finally posting a Gofundme to help us with Sandwiches' vet bills. Our baby has been having more bad days lately so we have to start thinking about at-home euthanasia. Any help would be greatly appreciated: www.gofundme.com/f/help-us-pa...

RIP Tatsuya Nakadai. I interviewed and was star struck by him twice. Once was on stage at the Museum of the Moving Image after a screening of the paranoid spy comedy AGE OF ASSASSINS, and once was for @ebertvoices.bsky.social: www.rogerebert.com/interviews/a...

Wait do I have it correct that Joyce Carol Oates said Musk was a shell of a man with no joy in his life and he totally saw it and said "No I'm not" and now he's searching the titles of different movies he likes and replying "great movie"

a script from @indivisible.org! (I'm probably going to add how harmful this will be in Ossoff's reelection campaign, bc we'll be blaming the entire party when people's healthcare premiums are so high they can't afford insurance)

PSA for any colleagues who just got Kino Lorber’s FYC screener link bundle: don‘t skip Bruno Dumont’s THE EMPIRE, it’s exactly what you might hope for from a religious themed Bruno Dumont scifi satire. Fabrice Luchini alone!

I received this email about Democrats caving to end the shutdown from one of the SNAP recipients I spoke to:

the thing that upsets me about this the most is that Dems had all the momentum, republicans were reeling, and we were getting intra-GOP fighting over the filibuster, all while voters were blaming republicans for their incompetence

this destroys all of this. just a total gut punch

It really does seem like there's a decent chance that these senators screwed us because they don't want their personal Thanksgiving plans to be disrupted.
Anyway a great way to radicalize people is for them to realize that you just abandoned their chance at being able to access and afford health care because you didn’t like waiting in line at the airport.

Retire. Now.
Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis

For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare

We will keep fighting

Shaheen: So let me be clear. No one in the senate chamber wants to extend the ACA tax credits more than I do.

If Schumer votes AGAINST this but enough Ds vote FOR it that it passes, he needs to RESIGN immediately.

He will have shown himself to be absolutely ineffective as a minority leader. He has to go.

Literally resign tonight.

Know this, @schumer.senate.gov — if you cave, we will not rest until you are primaried and wrested from your seat. When kids on SNAP aren’t being fed, we’re even more hungry for justice. New York has shown you the people’s power just days ago. You *could* join with us, still, and do the right thing.

As with most things from North Korea, half the appeal of ONE DAY AND ONE NIGHT is wondering about how it came to be. It’s a soapy gothic thriller about a brace young nurse who must protect her country from saboteurs. Completely hidebound and strained, but still weirdly satisfying.
Off to Flushing for dinner with Jene and then the Chinese animated fantasy NOBODY with @lcosgrove.bsky.social at the Tangram. And then running over to @spectacletheater.com in Williamsburg for the North Korean ghost story ONE DAY AND ONE NIGHT (2022). Hut, hut, hike!
