Things I did recently instead of doomscrolling:

1. Finished the book Beautyland. Sobbed a lot.

2. Rode the Line 5 LRT (15 years to complete! A zillion over budget! A LOVELY RIDE!) for the first time and found this inadvertent art project.

3. Made myself a Hipster PDA (keep reading for details)

Don't miss this WONDERFUL and very funny takedown of wellness, it's so good:
"What can you say to critics who argue that airable consumption is ineffective, delusional, or even harmful?

- I would argue it is not a method. It’s an embodied truth. Don’t you want to embody the truth?"

The really mean thing about applying for a grant to go to Melbourne is that you have to research flights and hotels and public transit and even though the odds are terrible that you will get the grant, your BRAIN is like HOORAY WE ARE GOING GO AUSTRALIA

Some advice:

- be kind
- tip well
- stay weird
- festoon your antlers with moss & wildflowers
- disappear into a malevolent fog at least once a month

As always, striking the balance between life and writing presents challenges. When I'm not meant to be cooking dinner I generally get on my bike for an hour or more - which will go up as the rides go outside. On the days I ride my bike to work I don't read so I spend more time reading at home. I know, making time to write is the only answer - just as I did for making time to read.

Can't wait to read this!
My future wife @pegasusunder.bsky.social wrote an incredible wellness satire flash; hilarious and horrible in equal measures.

You HAVE to read this.
"Can you tell us about your journey to start Airable Consumption?

I like to share my journey to inspire others."

The commodification of wellness cranked up to absurd and horrifying degrees in the incredible @pegasusunder.bsky.social's latest! Don't miss "Airable Consumption," up now on hex!

The next #CameronButtonUp shirt by Helen's Closet can commence - the fabric has arrived (Fableism Wings Cotton Rainbow). This will involve a LITTLE bit of pattern matching for the stripes, wish me luck...

WHY. ARE. GRANTS. SO. WEIRD. Is there a Grant Doula? WHAT DOES SUBVENTIONS MEAN? Where is the grant application where I can just type "Please let me go perform in Australia. I promise it'll be worth it. Here is how much everything costs."

SUBVENTIONS.
FOR FUCK'S SAKE.
