@zaryfekete.bsky.social in @bloodhoneylit.bsky.social with this amazing CNF - such a tender evocation of that excruciating line as a parent “Stable feels like a word for boats…something that floats but could still capsize.”
CNF "Lakeside" by Zary Fekete

“I think of that old feeling under the lake, of weeds around my ankle, of being pulled up into light. Maybe love isn’t about rescue after all. Maybe it’s about staying close enough to reach if they call.”

I'm offering a Narrative Poetry Workshop through @smokelong.bsky.social on January 24th! We'll explore prose poetry that calls dreams, clouds, and gods down to earth, before crafting our own.✨⛅
Narrative Poetry with Erin Vachon - SmokeLong Quarterly
Does your narrative seem to lean poetic? Don’t fight the feeling and force a flash. As we bring in the New Year, we’re setting the intention to slow down and explore the narrative poem, line by line. ...

And just like that and without any fanfare … Neither Fish Nor Foul is open for submissions. Closes 1 March 2026 or when 150 subs reached. 100-500 words, no theme.

Likely will take a while to respond this time - up to 90 days. Agonising, sorry.

Skelly and Candi-with-an-i discussing “Mother Karma” by @pleomorphic2.bsky.social - they both loved it, and I’m pretty sure they’re not giving my copy back. This collection is tender and at times a little bit tenderizing, in the best way.

How wonderful to have one last publication of the year. This piece features [pictorials] and [stomach] [bubbles] and [dinosaur] [hourglasses]. Enjoy (I'm not sure that's the right word 😬)

I cannot recommend this amazing elegiac lyric essay enough. @dani-netherclift.bsky.social is a stunning writer (and person) 🧡🧡🧡
📣 Coming January 2026 📣 Vessel: The Shape of Absent Bodies by @dani-netherclift.bsky.social is a lyric bricolage of memoir, image, literature, history, and translation that wrestles with the shape death takes.

Add this one to your new-year book stack! 📚

Things that are bringing me joy this year number 6. @lumchanmfa.bsky.social's weekly ukulele videos are always a balm to the soul. This is her latest. Melissa is a "triple threat" or whatever the expression is that all the kids are using these days 😂 - music, writing, art - a master of all three!

Then there is going out to lunch with Indian parents who specifically ask to try “western” food. Then ask for:
1. Chilli oil
2. Chilli because the oil is not hot enough
3. Salt
4. Pepper

The verdict: “it was very nice it just didn’t have any flavour at all”
Considering writing a dark humour (non) fiction piece on the things Indian parents say to you on:
1. The birth of your novella
2. Your choice of wok size in your kitchen
3. The plants you have in your garden (“none of them are edible yams”)
4. Your packing tape dispenser that is clearly faulty
