Fact: this season is far less dismal when viewed from the seat of a bicycle #cycling

Early this morning I looked at my watch. 5:30 am. Might as well wake up as I felt good and the alarm was set for 6 anyway. Went out, ground coffee and was about to start it when I looked at the clock with my glasses on: 3:35 am. Oops.

A little longer talky-video of today’s snowy bike commute. Am I cold? How do I stay upright? How pretty is the view? Come see #cycling

Not a ride video - a forced rest day. Need a cassette tool to get the trainer ready to ride indoors and summer tires on the commuter still. It's beautiful to look at though.

Looking forward to sharing winter commute videos now that cold weather batteries are ordered! #cycling

I just realized what I find difficult about winter and it came from a friend of ours talking about living in the woods in the Ozarks in summer. When summer came, it got hot and every surface in the woods was covered in ticks. (None of us had AC and most of us lacked electricity for a fan even)(1/4)

Last night at bedtime I promised to get up at 5 and out the door by 5:30. I almost didn't make it but in the end I'm glad I did. Even in a big city there's lots of wildlife. #cycling #biketo

What a great ride in to work - I have a number of routes to choose from but this one is 85% off-road so even though I was riding at 8:00 AM in Canada's largest city, one car passed me. (Though my radar said 2 because somehow riding near high tension power lines creates "phantom" cars on the radar)

As I promised myself, I got on the bike after work after missing the morning ride. SO much more traffic than 5:30 AM but also much warmer too. Glad I got out.

The clouds last night were ridiculous. Not long after this came a downpour and even a little hail!

We've been really addicted to The Traitors (UK mostly, some Australia and NZ, avoiding US) and lately I've been thinking its popularity aligns with current feelings about the world sociopolitical scene. Kind of like how 50s sci-fi was commenting on the times. Or pretty much any zombie series/film.

The common #cycling post narrative this time of year seems to be how great it is to ride in the cold and wet late autumn weather and how they can't keep themselves indoors and I'm over here thinking the biggest hill I'll climb on a ride is between me and the front door.

My Brain is a Liar

I'm an expert at dithering and finding excuses to avoid doing something I know will make me feel good. Yesterday not only did I push through it - I made video proof for my future self to capture just how wrong I was about what a chilly autumn ride would be.

I like riding my bike almost all the time but this time of year it is SO hard to get out the door. Today I went out when I didn't want to, shared all my excuses and then checked to see how true they were as I rode. Apologies as I forgot to include captions. Still new to editing. #cycling

This morning I definitely didn't want to go to work let alone bike. I still have a bit of a cold and had a headache most of the night. I'm glad I went, though. The ride was really pretty and despite the cold I stayed nice and warm. And surprisingly my headache improved. #cycling #biketo
