I fucking hope so.

(I mean, I'll be unemployed immediately, but that might not be a bad thing either)

Ambivert.

I want someone who is equally happy staying home by ourselves, but will sometimes drag me out to be social and handle all the small talk.

I genuinely can't think of anything more horrendous than the things that regime are already admitting to publicly

It would also pay for somewhere near the same number of nurses that would help keep our ERs open.

The answer to ~everything~ Doug does is that it simply funnels Ontario tax dollars into the hands of a relatively few PC insiders.

*sigh* here we go again. Your phone is not listening to everything around you 24/7 for advertising purposes. *If* you have voice activation on for the assistant, the mic is listening for the activation phrase: the processing power for listening for a single specific phrase is much lower.
Do you remember when people were saying "I think my phone is listening to me, i'm getting ads for stuff I spoke about" and people said "They arent listening to you, they're just this good at predicting your interests"?

Well, it happens they were doing exactly that.

Google to pay $68 million over allegations its voice assistant eavesdropped on users

As someone who works in digital marketing and very much understands how ad networks collect data, I've tried to explain this so many times and just... people prefer their conspiracy theories. 😮‍💨

The way the headline about the Google case was written doesn't help.

The squirrel in my wall is getting increasingly loud.

(My pest control lady was here yesterday and installed a one-way door —he's probably pissed.)

I used to prefer small phones because I have small hands and even smaller pockets.

But my eyesight has decided I now need bigger screens to handle larger font sizes without reaching my reading glasses. 😂🤓

That was the suggestion I originally made, but she was all "oh we can make it work!"

I appreciate that people want to try to accommodate me, but it rarely works out. My family still struggles after 20 years, but at least I don't have to worry about offending them at this point.

When I tell people I need to bring my own food to things, it's not really optional.

Being on a backcountry canoe trip doesn't allow me to be sick in bed for 3 days.

I'm in the midst of planning a canoe trip with folks I don't know terribly well. One women thinks we can accommodate all my dietary restrictions with shared meals, and put together a very detailed meal plan.

Now I have to somehow tell her that I can actually only eat 1 of the meals she planned.

Remember when this was what counted as a scandal?

For context, I lived next to a drug dealer for nearly 15 years.

The meth heads were bad at reading addresses and would sometimes ring the wrong doorbell, but they were generally very polite about it.

We *never* saw anyone higher up in whatever distribution ring he was part of.

Who exactly are invading Canadians' homes though? Every home invasion I hear about in the news is related to drugs or organized crime (which is also drugs). It's all targeted, and even then it's rare.

This just isn't an actual problem that needs to be solved.
February 1, 2026 at 2:43 PM
On one hand, the US did invade those countries. But on the other hand, they're threatening us with the same already. What do we have to lose at this point? 🤔

Canadian tech companies can't support themselves on a domestic market only, so we literally pander to the biggest one next door for our livelihood.
January 31, 2026 at 2:09 PM
I've spent most of my career working for Canadian companies that sell primarily to US companies; it's pretty standard to minimize your Canadian-ness externally. The fear is lost sales to a population that generally is unaware that Canada even exists, let alone spells things differently.

I work in tech and there's unfortunately still a lot of fascists - they're just quieter about it at work.

Yeah, it was eye opening for me. I had no idea how bad it was until I was immersed in it.

Cool cool, so we're buying salt from Egypt while our own salt is sold to Americans.

You know why this pisses me off, why did former PM Mulroney (Conservative) allow the sale of our Canadian salt mine (the largest in the world) in 1990 to an American company?

This is one of many reasons Cons should never be allowed power, they sell off our assets.
