Some good news. I reached out to their landlord for them and bought them a little time until Monday. I’ll be able to help them raise this over the weekend. Still at 75/560 but I’m chipping in 25 for them so it’s now at 100/560. Please help them if you’re able to.
Hey everyone. I’m helping another family from Lethbridge out this week. They’ve had a member of their family in the hospital due to pancreatitis and they’re still $560 short on their rent if anyone can help send to my PayPal/EMT tgtf1972@gmail.com Anything helps. They’re still in the hospital.

Mark Carney is about to announce more of his “elbows up” major projects.

But under the surface, one that’s being sold as an Indigenous-led LNG project is actually — spoiler — American as hell.

That’s not even the worst part!

Carneys cuts might seem neutral, but they will have disproportionate and unlawful impacts on First Nations peoples, in violation of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the Canadian Human Rights Act. They are morally indefensible in a country that professes a commitment to reconciliation.
You failed to mention that Indigenous people are shouldering 20% of your austerity budget cuts.

This is #apartheid in Canada.

Following in your father's footsteps, as predicted.
Carney government cuts unfairly hit First Nations
Budget cuts to Indigenous services violate equality rights and risk legal, moral, and financial consequences.

This is what makes me nervous about all this Canadian nationalism and talk about "sovereignty", it assumes the fundamental crimes of theft, dispossession, and genocide are just. That leaves people like me wondering if y'all just want me and my family to disappear so you can sleep better at night 😬

Why do you think land defenders stop housing developments before they begin? Dig deep enough in most people's title here and you'll find a shakey legal foundation, even under Canadian law. Most of BC doesn't even have the auspice of a treaty, not our fault peeps think they can live on stolen land 🤷‍♂️
An observation from the City of Richmond’s information session last night: There were some residents who were really scared and angry that they could lose their homes because of this ruling, and they were not provided with information that might have allayed some of their worries. A short thread.
Full house tonight at the City of Richmond’s info session on the recent Cowichan decision that established Aboriginal title over a parcel of land in SE of the city. Many residents angry they weren’t informed of the issue much earlier

at this point I think people should go from "we need to do a general strike", to disseminating information how exactly to do a general strike.

I think not knowing how, or if it'd even be possible, might be stopping people. Now is the time to start spreading the information on how to go about it
