Second year veggie garden / sixth year pollinator garden update. It’s been about 8 weeks since I moved my seedlings outside and I’m starting to see some flowers and a couple of fruits 🤞🏻✨

3 week garden update! I got to spend an hour adding garden supports to my plants and rearranged a few things to have more space 🤞🏻✨

It’s my 2nd year doing veggies and the pollinator garden is in its 6th season 🦋🐛💜✨

I counted 3 in the garden so far 💜💕✨

Yesterday, garden season opened at my house! It was THE day because before June 6 there’s still risk of frost here & then I was expecting it to rain all day today & off & on through this coming week.

The chamomile is almost ready to show some yellow. The milkweeds are only about 8 inches tall so far. They will eventually reach a height of about 3 feet. The is one bee cup pictured. It's a tiny round light green shape in this image, almost right in the centre. Foreground is just grass and the background features a fence. Among the plants are last year's milkweed stems which are much taller and continue out of frame and they make perfect little hiding places for certain pollinators to overwinter. Close up photo of one of my three raised garden beds. This one features the seedlings which were planted yesterday: tomatoes, peppers, basil, thyme and marigold in the soil. I also planted some nasturtium seeds between these plants but it will take a while to see them grow. Among the plants here are also some bee cups which hold about a teaspoon of water for thirsty pollinators. They don't hold enough water for mosquitos to breed and because it's such a small amount of water, it is safer for pollinators to drink but it evaporates quickly so one must fill the bee cups every morning (if it hasn't rained). These bee cups have a UV glaze on them that makes them look like flowers to pollinators thereby becoming an inviting place to get a drink. They are made from porcelain and won't leach harmful chemicals into the water for the pollinators nor the soil where one's food might be growing. There are many impersonators who don't take such care with their work so buy only authentic bee cups or look up how to make a pollinator watering station with marbles in a low dish if you want to help thirsty pollinators.

Today was an exciting day for me! I had the pleasure of getting a tattoo started by the talented Ryan Pooman. (Look him up on IG, seriously).

I sat for 6 hours today. I’ll post a close up when it’s finished in a few weeks. I’m so thrilled with how it’s coming out so far 😍

Ricky was a true friend & comrade 💔 I am still in shock over his passing. Thank you for this beautiful tribute.

I didn't get to attend his celebration of life due to almost no one taking airborne precautions anymore, making public inaccessible.

I'll always treasure the art Ricky made for me too ✨

She was still there at lunch so we called a local wild animal rehab who picked her up and gave her treatment. We worried about white nose syndrome but her only problem was a tiny thorn in the gums.

Luckily, this sweet little brown bat was rehabbed & released where she was found a few days later 🦇✨

We thought she would fly away soon, so we decided to move her to a hidden, protected place to prevent any of the gallery visitors from disturbing her.

I'm wearing my regular PPE (well fitted respirator, white, and stoggles) and a fresh pair of gloves, green, to protect myself and the little bat while we moved her.
