Bit of a @sabrlandmarks.bsky.social Field trip to Hoboken, NJ, took me to Elysian Fields recently, the "birthplace" of base ball (it's a little more complex than that). The first recorded game in Pittsburgh was played 12 years later, across from Gus and Yaya's stand (they weren't there yet).

On our way out of St. Louis yesterday, I stopped at 1212 N. Lindbergh Blvd. From 1969 to 1996, this tired-looking suburban office building was the home of The Sporting News, which arrived in the mail every Saturday for years, teaching me about sports and writing. @sabrlandmarks.bsky.social
