My working theory is that Italian Americans are naturally pro-immigrant but over generations more parents are giving kids pasta sauce from jars leading to people like Bondi and DeSantis turning out wrong.
Don't need to imagine, Sinatra had something to say about multicultural liberal democracies 🧵

One day, I came into work to find an anonymous voice mail that said, "Your newspaper is so awful, my pet bird died of constipation because he wouldn't even shit on it." Turns out, it was one of my boys calling to bust balls. I kept that voice mail until I left. I thought it was hysterical.
What's an insult you'll never forget?

Mental illness runs in my family. I’m sure it doesn’t help that I was a crime reporter, my parents were critical care nurses and my brother was an EMT. (Chuck’s stories from working at a plasma donation center in downtown Youngstown in the late 70s are harrowing AND hilarious.)
My neighbor is a nurse who sees a lot of death and frequently comes home from her overnight shifts wrecked with trauma and I just think our health care workers need more support because they can’t be expected to carry all this while they all have PTSD from the pandemic

Why can’t we help them
