we should not be letting any company get away with blaming AI for their failures. I'm not even sure how we got to this point. people are like "it's just a tool" okay so is a forklift and we still hold somebody responsible when it goes wrong and hurts someone. this is YOUR AI!

The way we stop UK ICE operating with this level of impunity is to resist them now, before they are empowered by a full scale fascist regime. Join your local anti raids migrantsrights.org.uk/anti-raids-r...

Their transphobia is contributing to the misery of my friends

Their attacks on disability benefits have me living in horror

Their failure to fund the nhs puts my life at risk

Their continuing marketisation of the university sector means I don’t have a future career
As a Safety manager in the NHS, Labour is most likely making me redundant, and I could lose my house. Making NHS patients less safe in the process.

How are Labour policies changing your life?
Why aren't Labour's life-changing policies connecting with voters - and what can the party do? It's down to messaging, how it's told, and the messengers...

Are any suicide researchers working on this? Feels like it’s worth asking why people turn to ChatGPT for this, what they get from it, what alternatives we can build
Panera’s moderately caffeinated lemonade was loosely associated with 2 deaths before it was taken off market.

This article alone has 4 examples of ChatGPT encouraging young people to commit suicide, and OpenAI’s own public stats estimate over a million users discuss suicide with ChatGPT each week.
I fully believe in the corporate death penalty and believe we would be a better world if OpenAI lost its corporate charter and was forcibly dissolved.

I recognise both cruel optimism & suicide postponement as states that we wrestle with at Not the Void UK. We do discuss what it will mean when/if a member dies, what responsibility to each other but not for each other actually means.

Reading this journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/... from @hazelmarzetti.bsky.social @amychandler.bsky.social et al and I have so many thoughts about the mental health system’s work as “suicide postponement” not “suicide prevention”. I think I love it as a concept

Gardner is correct, please locate & support your local deportation resistance orgs now if you haven't because by the time we need them we'll be behind 🙏🙏🙏 they're already doing some good work & have been for years
I know how they got to that point.

Because we’re a few steps behind, living through the “getting to that point” right now in the UK.
I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this video.

I don’t know how we’ve gotten to the point where men in full balaclavas can abduct daycare teachers while they’re watching children.

But I do know that this isn’t sustainable. Abolish ICE. There is no way to reform this.

Also do none of these people realise they’re in government? They don’t need inspiration and momentum! They already have power! The problem is how they are using it
Absolutely insane.

Labour would have purged and smeared someone like Zohran Mamdani.

Wes Streeting's politics align far more closely with Andrew Cuomo.

The lessons from Mamdani are about how to defeat both the right - and the bankrupt "centre".

I disagree with this. If universal school based interventions have been found not to help, and to have some negative effects, we should let them die and focus on something else. There are so many research areas that are funding-starved, why flog this dead horse?
We therefore suggest a compromise: if more trials *are* run, they should be optimally designed to test for possible mechanisms and individual differences. We give detail about how to do this

This will enable us to understand why negative effects sometimes happen in trials and who is most at risk

Okay so my lukewarm take on #GameOfWool is that the title is stupid and also they’ve really fluffed on what knitters want to see. Give them more time, let them knit a proper fair isle jumper, stop calling crochet knitting.

I’ve decided to start working on some CBT shit with my very non-CBT therapist, because I need to do something about the level of worry I get into without even realising I’m doing it. Because she isn’t a CBT therapist, I trust her not to gaslight me with it. The trouble is all the resources are shit.
