As it's the first day of Advent I thought I'd start #MyPhotoAdvent2025, a photo a day of my favourite captures of 2025... with an explanation in Alt Text of my reason for choosing it.
It would great if you could join in, just use the hashtag #MyPhotoAdvent2025.

I chose this because it's the first Weasel (Mustela nivalis) I have ever captured. Taken early January 2025, through our patio doors early in the morning, it was less that 3m (10ft) from where I was standing ! it ran off virtually immediately after I took this. It still visits but I've yet to get more shots of it.

On New Year's Eve we had freezing fog all day, then suddenly at sunset it turned the most glorious pink and purple, a magical end to what had been a challenging 2025 for me.

Morning All !

I spotted this Kestrel being chased by a Crow this morning while out walking Netty... the Kestrel eventually had something to say about the situation.... 🤪

Against a background of dense vegetation a Crow with it's wings and tail fully spread banks in pursuit of a Kestrel. The Kestrel is in level flight heading at speed towards the safety of the trees. Following the aerial tussle the female Kestrel perched on the rim of a satellite dish. It has it's back to the camera and it's head turned to look back and to the right of the shot. The yellow base of it's beak and the yellow circle around it's eye. It's feathers are fluffed up against the cold. It suddenly stood up, revealing it's yellow talons... then it pooped !

From this mornings walk with Netty... and another first for me... A Buzzard flying with a rabbit (possibly a hare) in it's talons, it had just caught it.

High above the Stour Valley between Essex and Suffolk a Common Buzzard flies with a rabbit firmly held in it's talons. I spotted it take off from the edge of a small copse, as I got it into focus (almost !) I realised it had a rabbit in it's claws. I see buzzards daily but until now had never seen one carrying prey.
