valentine's day isn't just for couples, it's also a day to celebrate love. for instance, i would love it if housing prices came down.

We are spending tens of millions of dollars to try to keep pedestrians away from a brand new downtown road.
Yeah I'm all about building parks but it's clear the motivation here was to relegate pedestrians to a separate level under the streets because the streets in this brand new walkable urban neighborhood will not be safe enough to walk on or cross.

This outrageous act — seizing ballots — follows Bondi’s demand that to stop public executions in Minneapolis, Minnesota needed to turn over its voter roll.

They’re determined to steal the midterms since they know they can’t win under an actual democracy.

“The majority of Americans are open to living car-free even after decades of car-centric planning, a new survey finds…A stunning 18% of car-owning U.S. residents indicated that they were ‘strongly interested’ in living car-free, and another 40% said that they were ‘open’ to it.” @usa.streetsblog.org
Survey: Most Americans Are Open To Ditching Their Cars — Streetsblog USA

Just a reminder FEMA used to help when during states of emergency.

We’ve seen hurricane-level mass destruction. We’ve got local civil servants working 16 hour shifts.

But we can only do so much with the people we have.

Just another Tennessee weather tragedy where the feds failed to show.

Very cool read. With more particulate pollution from cars coming from tires than from tailpipes, even a full switch to EVs won’t be enough. If we want to protect Nashville’s health, we need prioritize less car traffic and more walking, biking, and public transit.
Paris said au revoir to cars. Air pollution maps reveal a dramatic change.
Air pollution fell substantially as the city restricted car traffic and made way for parks and bike lanes.

“To Americans who are watching this right now … what side do you want to be on? The side of an all powerful federal government that can kill, injure, menace, and kidnap its citizens off the streets? Or the side of a nurse at the VA hospital who died bearing witness to such government”

Why do so many homeowner groups (Save Our Nashville Neighborhoods, Voice[s] of District 20, most neighborhood associations) keep fighting this?

Is preservation of “neighborhood character” (as established by the original developers, often men of questionable morals) worth impoverishing renters?

East Bank Boulevard should be a street for people. Throughout December, various boards and agencies met to discuss the future of the street and the neighborhood as a whole. Project leaders haven’t finalized a design for the street, so we must call for a people-first, four-lane design.

Appreciated CM Horton's comments asking if they could maybe please consider Vision Zero and our modal hierarchy, but y'all…why do we have to keep reminding Metro of their own policies? Why do all the designs they choose to show directly contradict these?

Baristas at Starbucks corporate stores nationwide are on strike to fight this corporate greed and get the fair contract they deserve.
