reminder: hang out Friday afternoon. I'm gonna aim for 12:30; come when you can. @neilkornutick.bsky.social would say something about a seat at the table bla bla bla. it is bike accessible, mostly transit accessible. something called the GameAbove Sports Bowl will be on. we used to be a country
how would everyone feel about Tailgate Germantown on the afternoon of the 26th? weather is supposed to be nice and they have a holiday pop-up thing going

reminding myself constantly that being a happy warrior requires both parts of that terminology

we’re gonna need a lot of happy warriors in Nashville in 2026
Dude legit moved the sign so my daughter and I could get through after I kindly explained why it's important to keep the bike lane open, then moved it right back while laughing and waving at us 👎

need to let you know that MACC right now has three puppies, seemingly from the same litter, named Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin

Capital Bikeshare is, imo, the GOAT of bikeshare. Divvy in Chicago isn't bad either. Citi Bike is not my jam
.@bikeshare.bsky.social stands as a testament that if you build an extensive bikeshare network people will use it, again, and again, and again.

CaBi passed its all-time annual ridership record in November, ensuring 2025 will be a record year. #bikedc
Bikeshare Beat: Capital Bikeshare breaks all-time annual ridership record
Riders took 6,369,376 trips on Capital Bikeshare in 2025 through November, breaking the annual ridership record set in 2024. Still, monthly ridership was down compared to last year.

I think this is a good idea and should be explored more
We should do a holiday get-together of all of us, much-online mutuals. Maybe on the 26th?

looking at comps to Nashville UZO's density (~4,200 people/sq mi) and population (~150k). here's one: Escondido, Calif. (~150k, ~4,100 ppsqmi). I may have wept when reading about their transit service
December 21, 2025 at 1:25 AM
there’s a funded position in the mayor’s office to do this. it’s not a filled position, or even a posted position, to my knowledge
The issue isn’t that “metro” owns property. It’s that 47 departments all own property and no one wants to be a leader to say, “if you own property you don’t use, its becoming housing”
December 20, 2025 at 2:36 PM
I love how in one hour people on here have spent time coming up with ideas to try to make folks’ lives easier and more enjoyable, even with disagreement, while the mayor makes up scenarios where we blow up a water park
Charlie but wait, serious question, what if zoom-zoom hours were implemented on the airpark in the meantime? Like adult skate but for bikes

ask my community how much of an asset that particular facility is. give me a break
wish we had a mayor who viewed affordable housing fronting a frequent transit route and one of the first BRT corridors as a community asset and public good

I believe we removed 0.15mi and added 2.1mi w flex posts & 0 w concrete. Not good but not as bad as initially presented. Also, CHYM didn’t start earning $ until Feb and first drawdown this summer so it’s not been a full year. However, your sentiment that we need to build better and faster is valid.

The Knoxville mayor is out here literally jumping for joy over the reopening of dedicated walk/bike infrastructure. This is the energy we need for 2026

I generally agree, but they explicitly put Chestnut/Edgehill into CHYM and their reps told community members to vote for CHYM to get that specific bike lane project. (Which was inaccurate for reasons too long for this post.) So, in that regard, they’re following through (so far).

it’s too late, Katherine. the Awakening has begun. tarry not, ye concrete printers. behold, the dawn of the Age of Permanence
*0 miles of concrete-protected bike lanes. 2.1 miles of bikeway were built overall, mostly with flex posts. So I guess it depends on your definition of protected
December 16, 2025 at 12:38 PM
never again
Some points from BPAC end of year report:

We REMOVED 1.5 miles of bikeway🤡

We built 0 miles of protected bike lanes.

Annual report APPROVED.

Next meeting: Jan 26

Bikeways & Sidewalks Manager position (NDOT I assume?) has not yet been filled.
