We envision a Nashville where all people have the freedom, dignity, and choice to move through a comprehensive and safe network of sidewalks, bikeways, and transit routes. We want to thrive even if we don't drive.
Over the past 12 months, we’ve been asking ourselves some big questions about our work: How do we make better streets? What should our priorities be going forward? And how can we invite more members into our movement?

Today, we’re proud to launch our Streets for People Framework.

Happy Thanksgiving from Walk Bike Nashville!
We’ve accomplished so much together this year, and we’re so grateful to our community for helping us make it happen. We hope you have a wonderful long weekend celebrating with loved ones — might we recommend a post-meal walk around your neighborhood?

We are working with Families for Safe Streets to pass Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) legislation during Tennessee’s next legislative session.
Sign our petition at walkbikenashville.org/stopsuperspeeders to support the effort and learn more about ISA.

Street murals are a great tool to make our streets safer and beautiful! We were proud to partner with Civic Design Center, Nashville DOT, Bridgestone, and Antioch Pike neighbors to help paint a bright, highly visible sidewalk extension near Wright Middle School.

Nine hundred people have died in traffic crashes in Tennessee so far in 2025. We grieve for these victims, and we join their families in calling for legislation to prevent more tragedies on our streets.
Join us Saturday for World Day of Remembrance for Crash Victims in Murfreesboro.

Happy birthday to us! Walk Bike Nashville was founded on November 10, 1998. Twenty-seven years later, we’re still working to make Nashville more walkable, bikeable, and livable. Here are some highlights from the last 27 years.

To Nashville, With Love is building a better streetscape, one bench at a time. After several benches were removed from public spaces and transit stops this summer, the group of volunteers began installing their own benches throughout the city.

Drivers play an important role in keeping families safe on Halloween!

These tips are helpful year-round, but especially as kids take to the streets in higher numbers tonight.

Thanks for helping keep our streets safe. Happy Halloween!

As the leaves are changing, we want to celebrate the many street-level benefits of the mighty tree! Trees don’t just add color to our lives. They make streets safer, more beautiful places for people to enjoy.

What’s your favorite tree-lined street in Nashville?

Walk to School Day is always one of our favorite days of the year. This year was no different! Thousands of students participated across 68 registered schools. According to our records, that makes this our biggest celebration since we started in 1999!

Car-free streets? Bus lanes? Yes please!

We’re excited about the pilot projects bringing people-first street design to Broadway this month.

These are promising solutions on our city’s most visible street, and we hope they lead to long-term improvements and similar efforts around the city!

Before we get into the individual responses, @walkbikenashville.bsky.social has an excellent summary of the survey results: www.walkbikenashville.org/east_bank_bo...

Overall, nearly 80% of respondents did not support the proposed designs (77.5% for River North, 79.4% for the other sections).

Statement from WeGo does not dispute any info about the flaws in this process.

There’s also a more fundamental issue here. When ridership and profitability are at odds for a public transit agency, they should choose ridership. I care about fairness too. So, let’s give more people a good deal.

TL:DR- WeGo is doubling Walk Bike's QuickTicket rate and gave three weeks notice to come up with $20,000 in additional renewal fees. This program should be celebrated and replicated but instead, we're having to pause it. The WeGo Ride program can be great but the current structure is not sustainable
We’re putting a pause on new Walk Bike Bus Passes, as well as renewals, due to an unexpected rate hike from WeGo Transit. Active passes will continue to function through their renewal dates, but we are unable to activate or renew passes.

Great advocacy here from Meredith Montgomery of @walkbikenashville.bsky.social and Veronica Foster from @civicdesigncenter.bsky.social.

Sounds like it's time for @freddieoconnell.bsky.social to take a position.
