This whole concept is hanging me. I work in bereavement support. I have done for several years. I have training in this. I research this. Ok?

This sort of concept is horrific and will hurt people. 🧵
it's not even *just* evil. it's also promising a kind of technological immortality that is actually impossible with the technology they're using. even if this kid somehow has not gotten bored with talking to a shitty chatbot made from a 3 minute video call with his grandmother in multiple decades...
For real, check this out. Evil.
I think this year i want to read more indie and small press publishing and specifically authors I've encountered on Bluesky.

So consider this a call out to indie and small press authors here. Wave your books in my direction!

I especially like scifi, fantasy, weird lit & creepy spooky horror

I hope 2026 is the year more people realise that putting into power known sexual predators with a predilection for fascism is something to be, errrrr, questioned at the very least and that it should not be considered an extremist position on the scales of media balance to bring the subject up

I hate that people even call LLMs AI. AI suggests intelligence. They don't even have that, let alone consciousness.

I've said this before and I will say it again, they are more similar to a wall wart than a thinking animal.

• Submit complaints using our guide on BBC articles that use degrading or misleading language about trans people

This language causes harm, and the law recognises that misgendering can be discriminatory. If we don’t challenge it, it becomes normalised.

This is me being interviewed in detailed on the nuts and bolts of writing technique.
Very interesting interview of @aptshadow.bsky.social . As an amateur want-to-be sci-fi author, I’ve found so many great insights about writting good sci-fi. Concept of One Big Lie is a very useful thing, for example.

2025 reading summary.
I read more than expected. I read a lot more short story collections and novellas than usual and a lot of "lighter" reads. Just what i needed this year i think.

Ok I can maybe squeeze in one more short story! I actually don't care about staying up until midnight on NYE but it's a nice excuse to stay up late reading.

I've read two books back to back recently which happened to feature colonies on Mars so for a moment i was disoriented.
Open up this picture fully.

Then look at the surface of Mars.

Then look up to the top right.

Spot Mars' moon Phobos high in the sky.

Then notice the bright spot beside Phobos.

That's Earth.

Rain is no longer romantic.

Now it only means cold, fear, and sickness.

For our children, even a blanket is a dream.

Rain is a blessing… but without a roof, it becomes a cruel test.

Any support, however small, makes a difference.

It was well received! I was complimented on it by a couple of received dancers who have danced in many different places.
Have carefully crafted a two hour mixed style tango playlist. What's the odds that i won't completely change it by Monday evening?

Suzie Izzard almost crashed into me on a bike careening down a cobbled hill filming a piece to camera while i was on my way to work (at like 6:30am, so it as an otherwise empty street).
She was very polite and apologised at high speed.
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie
