The period of my childhood that I remember most vividly was the one where we didn’t have a car at all. In Moncton. In the late 90s.
We were fine, we used transit, drove a neighbour to church in exchange for borrowing their car, and used rentals for vacation.

Fun fact: my father was on his way to work one day, crossing the Morrissy, and a transport entered the bridge and when it passed him it scraped a nice line down the length of the driver's side door. We had that car for years (he even bought a second one later on)

The van had a school bus seat bolted to the floor and a built-in platform bed behind it for when my sister and I got sleepy on long road trips. Eventually moved up to the Jeep, which really saw some miles put on it - even drove it to Mexico and back one summer vacation.

the two types of vehicle are cars and trucks, with every vehicle being a subclass of one of those two. a jeep is a truck. a motorcycle is obviously a car. a boat is a truck. an airplane is a car and a helicopter is a truck. trucks are cars, interestingly enough, and cars are a specific type of chair

What was I doing in Bellingham? Why, picking up this 1980 #Cadillac Coupe DeVille, which replaces the sadly departed Skoda. The flat light doesn't do this color justice, but I was in a hurry yesterday. It ticked over 64,000 original miles on the way home.

The Vice President and his political allies believe in hemispheric spheres of influence. They believe the US should concentrate on and dominate the Americas, and leave Europe to be dominated by regional powers such as Russia.
Europeans (except Germans) tend to think the continent can ride out Donald Trump, and that once he is no longer president US foreign policy towards Europe will return to how it was before
