Today is International Men’s Day. So here’s to refugee men fleeing abuse, trans men denied healthcare, queer men bullied for being different, Black men racially profiled, disabled men excluded from work, and all the other men who fail at being “real men.” May we continue to cultivate our humanity.

Dear Politician,

If fascists are endorsing your immigration policies, it’s because your immigration policies are racist.

Just saying.

I came to this country as a child refugee. No English, no certainty, no idea what my life could become. Britain gave me refuge.

Not on a timer, not with conditions attached, but with a chance to grow roots.

UK set to limit refugees to temporary stays
Shabana Mahmood is expected to say the era of permanent protection for refugees is over, in major changes to the UK's asylum and immigration system.

Making refugee status temporary is an appallingly callous move. People will effectively have to put their lives on hold, possibly for decades

People will mock this. But something to note:

When Remembrance Day was introduced, this is EXACTLY what many British WW1 veterans did on it.

They would meet up with old friends and colleagues from their units. Talk. Laugh. Cry. Toast those not there and get joyously, and utterly shitfaced. /1

Legendary wing walker Lillian Boyer at work.

WW1, the availability of war surplus aircraft after it and the many flight schools that popped up, created an explosion of opportunity for female aviators.

E.g. the schools that didn't want take women quickly discovered that economically they needed to.

Here is an anti fascist being dragged under arrest in 1936 and in 2114 perhaps those arrested for protesting for Palestine action will be up on the walls at whatever gallery remains and a hostile government will imagine they would have been progressive in 2025

Absolutely stonking Plaid win in Caerphilly: as I understand what by-elections mean, Labour will now have to back Welsh Independence and a bunch of left wing policies in order to win back support, right? Or is it only when they lose narrowly to the fash they take up their policies?

Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

Real good news/bad news thing for Starmer.

Good news: he got people to sign up for signing at a similar pace to Your Party's mailing list.

Bad news: It's opposition to his ID cards idea.

The media fuss made about chalk marks on a statue (easy to wash off) because it was made by trans people, compared with the silence about this (hard to wash off) fascist vandalism says it all about British mainstream media.
Today people went around my neighborhood in north east London spray painting St George’s crosses onto people’s homes. Many of these houses have non British people living in them.

This is getting very dark, very quick.
