My eyes filled w/ tears of rage on reading this. How_dare_they take our public libraries away while spending our tax $$ on filling the subway with armed cops? I filled out the form linked below to send the mayor a letter. Please do the same if you can. NYC needs to set an example. LIBRARIES MATTER.📚

26 loans per ebook cost libraries $55 per book. The actual physical book costs $15 and can be loaned forever as many times as they want. It doesn't make any sense. www.nhregister.com/politics/art...
Books can cost CT libraries $15. E-books are three times costlier
Connectict lawmakers this week were sympathetic with state libraries in their quest to change contracts with e-book publishers.

My first question to my boss when he started was, “Do you mind if I knit during management meetings? It’s how I stay focused.” Not only was he cool with it, his wife is a crocheter and he got how having something to do with your hands can keep you paying attention.
Reminder, paying attention isn't just "looking at the speaker and nodding".

Also some people just have resting bitch face.

This is all around a horrible idea.

Please stop reinventing the panopticon!
Good morning to everyone except people who think this is a good idea.

If you see this, post a book you’ve read more than once

I loved the concept and execution of this book so much

if only someone had written fantasy featuring women before the current romantasy craze
This narrative is just so blatantly untrue it's offensive at this point

I know her work meant a lot to some of y'all, but it's genuinely long past time to let rowling go. LONG past time.
JKR just donated 70K£ to the fascists group 4women Scotland for their justice fees to have trans women lose all their rights in legal gender marker change on their ID in the UK.

That's almost 82.000€.

The author has given money to For Women Scotland, which opposes individuals being able to self-declare their own sex and was granted a judicial review by the Supreme Court

My appetite is non-existent. Most food makes me want to gag. I desperately miss so many things and am mourning the last time I ate them. Golden dragon rolls, edamame, and goyza. Peanut curry, beef and basil noodles, and coconut shrimp. Spicy chicken shawarma and spicy fries.

Bad news at the oncologist today: the treatment I’ve been on since the summer is no longer effective and the cancer has gained ground. The next step is to go back to the chemo drug that caused issues when I was on it last year, on a smaller, more frequent dose. Fuck cancer.

As the OG rlarocque on Gmail, I have security concerns about all the other R. Larocques who use my email for banking, travel, medical records, job searches, car repairs, etc. Oh, and the one guy who used it as his password reset backup (MY DUDE)
okay I have a question, because there are at least three other women in the USA with my name and bless their hearts, but they seem to think that email sent to the gmail account I got over 20 years ago works for them, somehow, magically

it’s time to burn the incense,
it’s time to slay the sheep,
it’s time to wake the muppets,
from a thousand years of sleep.

it’s time to raze existence,
it’s time to banish light,
it’s time to call the void in,
on the muppet show tonight.

Winamp really did kick the llama’s ass
it's 2002. I've just put a sick new skin on winamp and kazaa just finished downloading tool_lateralus_full_album.mp3 and I just got finished watching the new flash animation about counter strike. "uhoh" I hear from ICQ. my HP desktop has about 3000 viruses on it.

These jokers took tens of millions in public money to create jobs, then laid off a massive chunk of their workforce. They should have to pay it back. Ordinary people had to pay back CERB.

A brief list of things:

1) The Dewey Decimal System vs Library of Congress system
2) The grammatical and social meaning of “Voulez-vous coucher avec moi ce soir”
3) Acadians vs the Québecois
4) Ebooks vs audiobooks vs print books, and why all formats are equally valid
5) Why knitting = coding
LOL Oh man. Here we go. This might be more "what I can rant about" rather than talk about.

1) Why the plot of Disney's Beauty and the Beast is NOT STOCKHOLM SYNDROME (which is bullshit anyway)
2) Corsets/stays vs. media depictions of them
3) The Titanic
4) Fanfiction
5) Book censorship
What are 5 topics you can talk about unprepared for 5 minutes? (Hard to pick just five, lol)

1. Hays Code-era film
2. Noir (the genre)
3. Game design
4. Star Trek: TOS
5. Birds
