I hope someday we defeat fascism and in the far future, No Kings Day is celebrated as a federal holiday, and little children leave out dance mixtapes and cookies for the Resistance Frog, who leaves pocket Constitutions in their shoes.
It's absurd for activists to say "I've been doing this for 20 years." No, you were not responding to mass ICE occupations of cities, ordered by a guy who wants to cancel elections, for 20 years. It's a way of doing the old "both sides are the same, we were always fascist, Trump is nothing new."

No, we don’t need violent tactics, scare quotes or otherwise. “Why can’t you just stick to your peaceful nonsense and let us burn things?” Because the consequences will fall on my city and my neighbors. If you try to start something like that, I will try to stop you.
But that's literally what Will is doing. Both "violent" and non violent tactics are needed in movements like this. If he doesn't want to participate in the more rowdy actions, then he shouldn't, but he should shut the fuck up and not interfere.

(it's not foolproof, obviously. And the threat of witnesses is increasingly not stopping them. But if you and your friends try to bum rush them w/o witnesses and no one knows where you are, ICE's calculus changes and now it's way more likely you're killed. And no one will know)

You want press coverage and you will need to manage it to the best you are able. Kicking people out like Will probably does more harm than good. You don't have to like him. You can recognize what he brings to the table with his connections to press and pols and manage that adroitly. Or not.

This is what it comes down to. Some people, often longtime organizers for political causes of the past, before the rise of the fascist faction over the past ten years, see organizing as being about forming social networks.
But Resisters see it as a job. We don't have to like each other.

Organizing is very much NOT about relationships, and it is the narcissistic people who think of it that way, as their personal social circle to have drama and gossip and bad vibes in, who impair the resistance. Think of it as a job. The job of stopping a fascist from consolidating power.
