I hope someday we defeat fascism and in the far future, No Kings Day is celebrated as a federal holiday, and little children leave out dance mixtapes and cookies for the Resistance Frog, who leaves pocket Constitutions in their shoes.

If I was conspiracy minded I'd seriously question who those people are really working for, or, at a minimum, what the actual agenda is, because it sure has nothing to do with building a mass non violent movement.

Honestly, it's so widespread I have to wonder if it's right-wing sabotage. Make a fake account, then start telling all your "fellow resisters" that it's not safe to openly protest, they have to live in the shadows, don't raise any awareness or demonstrate bravery to inspire others.
Numbers are safety and I do not understand why these OPSEC obssesed people think espousing rethoric that will lower protest attendance helps anyone at all. If you are this concerned, why have a social media account at all, they probably use that info too, NSPM-7 targeys anyone who is anti trump.

I am glad you're on this hill because my friends make me insane with this opsec nonsense. I'm a suburban white guy. track me, losers.I should be protesting and resisting with intentional visibility.

this is our country and we're allowed to fucking do it. raising awareness is the point.

The paranoia is valid, but living in a competitive authoritarian state, not using your name and trying to avoid being recognized is complying in advance. They want you more hesitant to participate. They are law breaking secret police. You think they need your name from a hacked website?

they can vacuum up cell phone data by multiple city blocks at once. that has your identity associated with it. if people think anonymity is a real thing in this technology era, they're woefully underinformed.

You are allowed to peacefully protest against the government. The government cannot really impose any serious burden on you for being one of hundreds of thousands of people peacefully protesting against it. But you can impose a serious burden on yourself, and fellow protesters, by worrying too much.

We really, really need to squash this idea that the first step in effective protest is ensuring that nobody can ever identify who you are or distinguish you in any way

What good is a protest if you won’t attach yourself to it, though? Doesn’t a protest derive its strength from willingness of people to be seen engaging in it?
Go to the protests, but it's naive to say that attaching yourself to it by signing a piece of paper or online form to say you will be/are at it is a neutral activity to these chuds.

“As grateful as I feel, I don’t need to say anything except that, no one is illegal on stolen land. It’s really hard to know what to say and what to do right now, I feel hopeful in this room and we need to keep protesting… fuck ICE.”

Real nice of Rep Nancy Mace to do this promotional for the NY Mag article on her. Downright neighborly of her to make sure people see the new piece.

I had no idea NY Magazine was even doing an article on the narcissistic congresswoman. I don't normally read @nymag.com.

But I will now!
I was hearing this was going to be a wild story even before she posted this. 🍿

I've been a critic of NYT for two decades--sometimes as a job--but I don't have monolithic view. There are great reporters working there. Headline writers, not so much. This is actively misleading. By framing it as a question it takes a side, asserting that he wants to w/out plausible evidence.

This list highlights a terrifying scenario: service members being given unlawful orders.

If we saw this abroad, we would recognize the erosion of democratic norms. Here, we must have the courage to name it and oppose it.

Military families understand sacrifice for the nation's ideals.
Arresting journalists.

Fatally shooting protestors.

Turning the military on citizens.

Attempting to rig elections.

Toying with the idea of declaring martial law.

If this were happening in another country, what would you call it?

Someone needs to ask Mike Johnson if he'd object to the agents having unique identifying NUMBERS on their uniforms, to file complaints about their behavior, since he claims the lack of any badge or identifier is for their safety from doxing.

Deeply relieved Liam and his dad are back home in Minnesota.

This kidnapping by ICE was egregious and should never have happened.
