This was the view after I moved away for some reprise. You can see after the flash bang grenade goes off a bird flying. Was a heartbreaking reminder it’s not just people impacted by this but animals and nature too.

Boycotts are necessary! Big protests are necessary! Economic blackouts are necessary! Workers calling out sick or taking time off to support these causes is necessary! Mutual aid is BEYOND necessary! But they are not strikes.

insisting on calling every mass day of protest or one-day boycott a "general strike" is not the move. it's good to see people rallying around the cause, it matters, but if you want to be part of a large-scale labor action that shuts down the gears of capital, start by unionizing your workplace!!!

This general strike situation seems great. Every white-owned business in my rapidly gentrified/gentrifying neighborhood has assured us they will be open to "hold space" and give part of their profits to a charity.

People are asking a lot “how is this happening?” It’s happening the way abolitionists have warned you for decades it’s happening — you can’t dehumanize whole groups of people, pay for their brutalization & not expect for more bounty hunters to come.

For some reason I followed the most normie, plus-size, Christian influencer on Insta ages ago and forgot about her because she rarely pops up in my algorithm. Today she did. What was the post? ABOLISH ICE, followed by a re-post about the Jan 30 General Strike.

Ah yes, letting the secret police just do night raids surely fixes the problem
"I'm gonna give Homan the benefit of the doubt"

"They should coordinate with local law enforcement, pick these people up in the middle of the night when they're not suspecting it"

Walz is capitulating to fascists and encouraging night raids. Genuinely disgusting. Why would anyone settle for this?

I know this is small potatoes in the grand scheme of things but these guys are paid with your tax money and have no real job. ICE isn't necessary. They don't get rid of criminals. They just terrorize communities. And THAT'S why they should be abolished. No need for reins. It's not a job!

DHS required to cooperate with state probes (big)
CBP stays at border
warrants for arrests
IDs, bodycams
ICE out of churches, schools

Again, we've been doing the "just move on an let the criminals retire" thing since at least Iran-Contra, but really since at least 1865, & it never works. We simply cannot do that anymore.
Once again, one of the primary reasons we have arrived at this point (completely out-of-control & unconstitutional abuse of executive power to conduct wildly illegal foreign policy) is that no one, including the most senior people involved, went to jail for the rest of their lives for Iran-Contra.
