Folks blame government, but: "new work requirements for Medicaid highlight the profits to be made from adding complexity to the safety net. Since Georgia implemented work requirements in 2020, they have spent twice as much on Deloitte consultants & administrative costs as on healthcare for people."
Corporations are extracting billions from America’s safety net and their payday is about to be supercharged by new rules.

I lay out how programs like Medicaid have become vulnerable to corporate capture and what we need to build to stop it.

As Republicans tightened work requirements and eligibility rules for Medicaid and SNAP last year, Equifax’s CEO openly celebrated the profits to be made from administering this deprivation.

This is huge news. I have spent the past 6 months wondering wtf was up with Amazon: they filed 380,000 AI-related CyberTipline reports to NCMEC in the first half of 2025.

Turns out ALL of it was known CSAM they found by screening their AI training data. It's NOT AI-generated or AI-morphed CSAM.

i was actually shocked to see the numbers on new research from Global Energy Monitor on new gas projects in the US: nearly 100 gigawatts of power—enough to power tens of millions of homes—are currently in development explicitly to power data centers. At the end of 2023 that number was 4 gigawatts
Data Centers Are Driving a US Gas Boom
Gas projects in the US pipeline explicitly linked to data centers increased by almost 25 times over the past two years, according to new research from Global Energy Monitor.

In Printz v. United States, #SCOTUS held that the Constitution bars the federal government from forcing or otherwise compelling local or state governments to enforce federal law.

The liberal squish who wrote the majority opinion in that case? Justice Antonin Scalia:

people need food and they need rent money. that has not changed.

Important thread
The Holocaust Museum as run by Trump Nazis.
The US Holocaust Museum being more outraged by Tim Walz saying that, like Anne Frank, children today are in hiding from armed agents of the state, than they are about the fact that children are in hiding from armed agents of the state, is why Holocaust remembrance culture is in crisis.

Sounds like he’s grossly unqualified for his position. He should be forced to resign if he doesn’t know the basics of the constitution.
Suddenly republicans have forgotten what the constitution says 🤷🏼 🇺🇸

USA Today is openly lying in this story. There is not "widespread criticism," there is:

* Criticism from a body that Donald Trump controls
* Criticism from a far-right body aligned with Donald Trump
* Criticism from a political appointee appointed by Donald Trump

That's it. That's the "widespread"

I mean, he's taller and doesn't wear weird Nazi trench coats (yet)
Do we really have to go through some mandatory period where we all pretend that Homan is ANY better than Bovino? The man’s a scumbag, literally the architect of the family separation policy that abducted 5 year old Liam Ramos from his community in MN and put him in a concentration camp in TX.

Just over the past 72 days, two non-white Democratic members of Congress have been attacked, one of them by a Trump supporter who threatened him with deportation.

Does JD Vance have anything to say? After all, the GOP VP is always so keen to attack "left-wing" political violence.

A person who said they witnessed federal agents shoot and kill Alex Jeffrey Pretti submitted a sworn statement in court disputing the federal government’s account of the shooting. “I have read the statement from DHS about what happened and it is wrong,” the person said in the statement.
In Court Filings, Witnesses Describe Fatal Minneapolis Shooting of Alex Pretti
The filings raise further questions about the federal government’s narrative of what happened before federal agents shot Alex Jeffrey Pretti on Saturday.

Guess what? This has never been about safety or immigration. It’s a pretext for Trump to take over elections in swing states.

From Charlotte's lips to the universe's ears, but if Thune's lumping the bill into other funding mechanisms, will that remain true?
Both of Nevada's senators--Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen--have officially come out against the DHS funding bill following the execution of Alex Pretti by ICE agents in Minneapolis this morning. This effectively ends the DHS funding bill in the Senate.

People already working hard to prove how perfect Alex Pretti was. To show he didn't "deserve" to be killed. But it's a trap folks. You're only feeding into a dynamic where people who are considered lesser get no protection. You don't have to be an Alex Pretti to deserve to live.
