Loudmouth, queer, mother, Green, pedestrian thinker because walking can save us. Fan of public transport infrastructure. She/her. In Scotland.
I'm not 100% sure I go all the way with this, but the point is well made.
Personally I'd be pleased to see BBC News disappear entirely. To argue, as many do, that British politics or our news environment would be so much worse without the BBC you have to explain why British politics and news environment is so very bad with the BBC.

I genuinely think that trans people need to fight a bigger fight about research ethics governing our treatment. "Trans rights are human rights" is vague.

No research without consent is specific.
It's right that trans people should be able to refuse to be subjects in research being conducted with an aim of reducing their options in life, reducing their comfort and wellbeing.

How many trans people have the BBC had on this week discussing the BBC's pro-trans bias?

Zero.

What bothers me is that impartiality and balance are two different and incompatible things. Impartiality means that you don't intervene to put your thumb on the scales. Balance necessarily requires that you intervene to artificially make every issue look like a 50/50.

What a fucking *brilliant* idea. I hope they take loads of photos with documentation and laptops and people smiling.

It's important to keep pointing this out about the many people who have gone the same way. Too often we suggest or imply that the trans moral panic merely allowed these people to be who they always were. Not true. We're seeing a process of *radicalisation*. We can't fix things unless we name them.
Transphobia is a pipeline to the far right. An example:

Suzanne Moore used to be a left wing columnist at the Guardian.

Then came the anti-trans panic. Despite the Guardian also promoting it, it wasn’t enough & she left.

Moore is now complaining about wokeness over the Irish famine & colonialism.
Suzanne Moore, who would rather be locked up than pay her BBC licence fee because the BBC is too nice to trans people for her liking.

Deer are basically vermin and it's fun to hear a Tory blaming pine martens and badgers for habitat degradation, presumably so his pals don't risk their shooting estates.

Oil is the most Lovecraftian thing that actually exists.

You're telling me that there's a black ichor under the earth made from the ancient dead, whose burning can realize all the dreams of man, but only at the price of slowly returning the earth to its primordial state?

Yesterday was the 30th anniversary of the Disability Discrimination Act. The absolute tumbleweed from the media & gov shows just how much they want to bury how much disabled people fought and still fight for our rights.

The recent policy change which makes it impossible for young trans people to delay puberty, at great cost to their mental health, has a special caveat to allow cross-sex hormones to be used on intersex children even contrary to their wishes, at great cost to their mental health.

Time for my regular complaint of "why do courier companies have a 'leave in outhouse' option and no 'leave in stair' option, this isn't fucking Agatha Christie world", thank you and good morning.

I forgot how much I enjoyed chatting with people who experience weird mental health shit and have ways to handle it, sharing ideas and laughing at the ridiculousness. Someone please let me do this as a job again. Please.

To be clear, what is being proposed here is to axe the main mechanism for getting Britain’s homes insulated - which is by FAR the best way to reduce household energy bills in the long term 🤦‍♂️

…and also, just incidentally, an absolute non-negotiable requirement for meeting UK climate targets 😬🥵☠️

A reminder: you cannot have gay rights without women’s rights, trans rights, disability rights, etc. We have secured our rights as gay folk to live and love without moral persecution by working in solidarity with other marginalised groups to challenge narrow ideas about bodies, gender and sexuality.

Where are the trials for the use of these experimental drugs in children? How do you know it’s safe?
