The govt has a bill to expand charges for road users. Corridor Tolling - tolling an existing road to fund a new project in the same corridor. Soon, we won't be able to move without the govt charging us. Again, proportionately, poorer people will pay a higher percentage of their income 4 this. #nzpol

Departures of 15-29 year olds are up 24% since the election.
Where are they going to? 58% of migrant departures of New Zealand citizens went to Australia. Going to a country with Fair Pay Agreements, a growing economy, low energy prices, and a capital gains taxation system. For some reason that doesn’t seem to so be unpopular.

The last New Zealand tobacco farm closed 30 years ago. There are no commercial tobacco growers in New Zealand. So this isn't even protecting our own farmers/producers. It's 100% offshore interests harming New Zealanders. And our laser focused government? They decided to make it easier for them.

Luxon thinks we need a "mature conversation" about selling state assets... But I don't think he really means that, because a mature conversation would look at the history of failure and the shortsighted focus on profit ahead of public interest.

He wants a conversation where we agree with him.

How'd that go in the past for consumers? Electricity prices go down? No. Rail services improve? No. Insurance get cheaper? No. Post get better and cheaper? No. Telecom? No. Air NZ went bust. Nationalize the ones we sold. Our country isn't broke enough spin. #nzpol www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...
National to mull asset sales as part of next election, Christopher Luxon says
But the prime minister has ruled out asset sales this term.

We need democratic governments to pay attention to the disinformation tsunami online. CoFact is an NGO that built a chatbot to fact-check and fight disinformation, works with volunteers in verifying news or content, and runs 'how to protect yourself' tutorials. More of this! WE ALL NEED PROTECTION

Total 394,000 people - with families, whānau, mortgages/rent to pay, & food to put on table.

No way we should accept this as feature of economy.

Love how National proudly opposed the Treaty Principles Bill, and wore it like a badge of honour.

Then basically rolled it out anyways. They’re dismantling and removing anything that honours the treaty, and undermining Māori.

Without consultation too like yesterday.
Depressing.

I get that they might withdraw their services... as of right now this is feeling more like a blessing than a threat tbh.

Strongly organized public health disinformation campaigns about vaccines have made some scared of using them. Countering those online campaigns is critical. NZ health leaders need to understand how social media is shaping disinformation and counter it through legislation, as has been done in Europe
