Paddington Bear (the film version) and the half-skeletal soul-eating bear thing from Annihilation were made by the same VFX team. They wanted to name Annihilation Bear after a less salubrious London railway station. It's called Homerton.

I think at this point the UK has accepted Paddington as the Death Bear, collector of souls. So, I think as a nation we should start smearing marmalade on the eyes of the dead and whisper “fare for the crossing”. It’ll feel weird now but, in three of four generations, no one will question it.

I spent an excessive number of years moderating a gaming forum and I learned a great deal about community spaces and cultivation, whether I wanted to or not. I have critical advice for anyone who runs a game store or gaming convention. Please share this thread with people who run those things.

I’m such a believer in this approach—the interlocking systems of games are capable of such surprises if we follow their dark magic ;)
A topic that comes up with my games is that they seem one way on the page, but then “reveal themselves” when played. This is an intentional part of the design! I think games are a more powerful experience if they don’t show what they’re really doing until you spend some time with them at the table.

Someone should make a Jiro Dreams of Sushi style documentary about the people who craft bullet hell games (and specifically Sektori yes I’m still obsessed and in awe of Kimmo Lahtinen’s accomplishment here and won’t shut up about it)
