It’s such a harmful Christian theology that looks at wars and famine and says, “this might be the fulfillment of End Times prophecies!” and “Jesus might be retuning soon!” instead of “look at how much people are suffering!” and “how can we stop this injustice?”

Case report of brain death in a child due to COVID-19 and literature review.

An 8-year-old girl with fever, rash, headache, and seizures tested positive for COVID-19. Imaging showed brain edema; EEG indicated brain death. Despite intensive care, her condition worsened, leading to brain death.

Your immune system isn't a Tamagotchi that dies if you don't play with it.

"Immunity debt" is a marketing term to make you blame yourself instead of bad policy.

Getting sick constantly isn't normal — it’s a public health failure.

You can’t say, “It’s different when God does it,” while also claiming to be an image bearer because image bearing implies that however you define God will eventually be reflected in the way you treat self and neighbor.

A special class of Silicon Valley tech guy apparently deserves to control the world, and we’ve been offending them by not handing over control.

Now they very nearly control the United States.

We have to understand them to fight back, and we do have to fight back.

i think this should be factored into how states, counties, localities and hospitals respond to these executive orders. "we will investigate you if you teach DEI." okay, with what agents, specifically? with what state capacity?
NYT reported that the number of potentially affected agents is as high as 6k. The bureau has about 13.7k agents total
What a hideous headline. Folks calling the shots here are just corrupt banana republic trash.

Your periodic reminder as we go into the holiday season that the only safe amount of exposure to SARS-CoV-2 is zero.

Quality masks work to prevent the spread of airborne illness, yet everyone up to and including medical professionals wearing them daily for decades somehow forgot this?

Thinking today about Jessica Sunderland, who won her civil rights case against a jail for denying her hormones, forcing her to detransition while incarcerated a decade ago. I met her and wrote about her case for @theappeal.org in December 2018:
In ‘Amazing’ Verdict, Jury Awards Transgender Woman Punitive Damages Against Suffolk County Jail
The landmark decision could help other transgender people in jails and prisons who have been denied access to hormone treatment, a violation of their constitutional rights.

One of the NYPD brass said “this isn’t blue bloods” when explaining they can’t just immediately find the guy and I like that years of copaganda have set standards cops can’t meet and might be contributing to people’s correct perception that cops don’t effectively stop crime or find killers.

I was just gonna say this! You often hear 'reasonable moderates' saying things like "Well I just think we should have standards for athletes."

We have this! Athletes are required to be on hormones for months or years before they can compete as a woman.
The same is true of sports. It is not easy for trans women to play on women's sports teams, and gets harder the higher the level of competition.

People demand a balance of fairness and inclusion that already exists, and wind up furthering outright bans that exist to other and punish trans women.
What drives me nuts about the trans youth "debate" is how much of it consists of people who don't know anything demanding compromises that already exist.

Hormones and surgeries for minors receive ABSURD amounts of regulation and scrutiny! Either engage with the facts on this issue or shut up.

Jesse has spent the last six years promoting the notion that large numbers of children are transitioning without assessment — something for which there is no evidence.

He should be treated like anyone else peddling a false and harmful idea.
Jesse Singal's life's work is laundering transphobia into language that that cocktail party set finds palatable. This technique attacks a weakness of liberalism and democracy, and it's being exploited ruthlessly right now.

You have to treat the shtick like the thing it's pretending not to be.

Both provide the exact same doctors & meds. The only difference is for profit had massive markup to pay for CEO bonuses & private jets.
