Since the Republicans are letting Trump weaponize the Justice Department against anyone he holds a personal grudge against, one of the questions at every GOP debate in the future needs to be who each candidate plans to use the government to go after personally.

Kevin DeYoung writes for Desiring God that patriarchy "is about the subjugation of the male aggression and male irresponsibility that runs wild when women are forced to be in charge." That's interesting in light of the patriarchs defending ICE and dismissing Alex Pretti's murder.

I have a new piece out tonight where I consider the Alex Pretti story in light of Kevin DeYoung's Desiring God article a few years ago where he claimed that patriarchy protects women from violent men and that our choice is between patriarchy and anarchy.

Since Trump got elected partly by riling up white conservatives against Haitians who were supposedly eating cats and dogs, and since there were around 12k to 15k mostly Haitian immigrants there, I'm assuming there have been hundreds or thousands of court cases w/ Haitians being charged. Right? 1/2

Remember, eleven days ago I wrote an article about a Minneapolis pastor praying that God would use ICE to break the teeth of the wicked people of Minneapolis, and then to tear out their fangs, make them vanish, cause them to fail, to melt like a slug, and to become like stillborn children.

As a former worship leader, I don't think it's a coincidence that the people defending the violent murder of people they consider to be their enemies are the same people who gather on Sunday and joyfully sing the lyrics, "Praise is the water my enemies drown in."

On tonight's episode of "Highest Power: Church + State," I discuss how ministries like Desiring God, The Gospel Coalition, and Cities Church use theology in a way that disguises the racist, sexist power dynamics they're setting up.

Conservatives say the Cities Church pastors are faithful, steadfast, and bold. But they kicked a woman out of their church because she transferred church membership after they wouldn't help her with her husband who was so into porn that he got fired over it & sent their family into financial ruin.

White evangelicals acting like they suddenly care about traumatizing kids in their church buildings is pretty rich.

If you wonder why I speak so directly and starkly about abusive men like John Piper, Doug Wilson, John MacArthur, the writers for TGC, etc., one reason is that I want to help the women they're abusing recognize how they're being abused. 1/4

The reason why white evangelicals lose their minds over a non-violent interruption of their worship service and don't even blink an eye at a violent invasion of their neighborhoods is that they don't consider their neighbors as sacred.

We all see videos of ICE's violence in Minneapolis. But what are they doing where we're not looking? They're purchasing warehouses to store and ship human beings like they're Amazon Prime packages. On today's episode of "Highest Power: Church + State," I interview Mara Richards Bim for the details.

This is the first time I've considered these lyrics from the underside of empire. It reads much differently down here than it does when sung from the insecurities of those at the top.
Lutherans when riled:

And though this world, with devils filled
Should threaten to undo us
We will not fear, for God hath willed
His truth to triumph through us
The Prince of Darkness grim
We tremble not for him
His rage we can endure
For lo, his doom is sure
One little word shall fell him
