for everyone confused as to what the fuck is going on right now:
For further context twitter added a button that allows users to generate ai images using existing art posts from artists. It removes glaze and it basically reskins the artwork by using the existing work as a base. Twitter is no longer a safe space for art

Some of you have forgotten that only three years ago you were perfectly capable of writing a text, writing an email, telling a bedtime story to a child, and it should worry you that powerful companies have convinced us we can’t do things we’ve been doing since the dawn of time.

Truth.
the thing is, people will *never* stop shitting on your art either; people are mean, especially online. maybe you're not to their taste, maybe they're one of those insufferable people that love to give unsolicited criticism, maybe they're jealous, maybe they're a hater- you'll be eating shit
I mean, things are tough all over. If rude criticism stops you from making art, you should probably not be making art.

Seriously. Stop thinking of views and likes and just do the freakin’ art for yourself. It’s so much more rewarding and fun.
For another, you can just do art and not post it. I do that all the fucking time. I make doodles for my tabletop game, I draw my little avatar guy. Art can be just for you and like four of your weirdest friends.

The purpose of human expression is not Posting.

I spoke to a dozen professional concept artists working in games about whether generative AI image tools have made their jobs easier, even if it's just used in "very early ideation stages."

Zero said "yes." Most said it made their job harder.

I learnt a lot about concept artists. You should too!
We spoke to a dozen professional concept artists who are currently or have previously worked in game development about whether generative AI image tools have made their jobs any easier.

Zero said it did. Most said it made things harder.

Concept Artists Say Generative AI References Only Make Their Jobs Harder
“The ‘early ideation stages’, when worlds are being fleshed out by writers and artists, are literally crucial to the development of a game’s vision,” said one artist.

They offered him up to $8 million dollars, and he refused.

They asked him to name his price, and he still refused.

One of the many reasons AI can't produce good writing is it can't hate its own writing. It can't think to itself "Maybe I'm illiterate" during the writing process. And that's essential

This entire grift relies on convincing people that they don't know how to do the things they have always known how to do, and ironically, if it works, we will, in a very short amount of time, forget how to do all the things we have always known how to do.
