Particularly because--and I can't stress this enough--gAI does not actually help at all in this regard! You cannot engage with and form an opinion on a text from an AI summary of it any more than you could from reading Cliffnotes. The only reason people think they can is that education is a joke.
The “ableist” accusation from gAI boosters pisses me off so much. You know what’s really ableist? Telling my students they can’t possibly engage with difficult (or any!) text without the help of gAI. They prey on students’ crises of conference in a way that is truly disgusting.

I don't know how many I read exactly... but it's in the 60-80 range, I think? Maybe about half of them romance
And considering that I also read a ton of fanfic *and* I collect other hobbies... 120 ist absolutely doable

I don’t think people understand how easy this is to do and it has nothing to do with “porny” books. You could read 120 lit fic books in a year, but people choose not to. Romance readers like to read the same way gamers like to game or crafters like to craft.
