A fun thing about that Trump report is the admin is also telling the Supreme Court to only apply rational basis review to bans on this health care, meaning states wouldn't have to actually prove their claims in court (a thing states with bans have never actually done under heightened scrutiny)
WashPo [10 May 25] -- Shocking endorsement by WashPo Editorial Board of 400-page anti-trans HHS attack on pediatric care: "careful and thorough... makes a legitimate case...clear and careful language... greater emphasis on psychotherapy in treating gender dysphoric youth." @rikiwilchins.bsky.social
Opinion | Good questions about transgender care
The authors of a new HHS report make a case against pediatric gender transition.

You know that Twilight Zone episode where the kid has amazing psychic powers and can make people disappear with his mind and the entire town is hostage to him and has to cater to his every whim? That’s us right now.

The nyt has a de facto policy of not hiring trans journalists. The v few who transitioned there were driven out. I was one.
absolutely, and might I add, this is exactly where journalism has gone wrong

instead of seeking subject matter experts as reporters, they call them "too close" to the story; fear bias

then they never get close to the story and force the journalism to include non-experts with clear bias
I am begging anyone with the ability to commission articles in my industry: let trans people write about what is happening to us right now.

this claim is circulating and it isnt true. here's direct quotes from mcbride taken from the same article (non-paywalled archive.ph/jdO0O, as of this post site has this same text)

only thing that was changed was the framing, not mcbride's beliefs or statements.

fact check urselves

Public comment is now open for passport gender marker changes.

You can go here to go to each of the three proposed passport rules, and submit comment.

My suggestion: be unique, argue for trans-inclusive policies, against the constitutionality of the changes, etc.

There are 3 public comment portals under the Paperwork Reduction Act. Make sure to comment on all 3. You can use the same comment for all of them. These comments are important for litigation and can be used as evidence of violating administrative procedures in changing the rules.

i think it is important to say that the open and explicit racism of the president and the vice president isn’t just uncouth or “controversial” but a direct attack on tens of millions of americans and a dereliction of their duty to represent the entire country

Reactionaries want transgender people dead because, to them, having a transgender child fucks up their familial property relations (family as property, not property of the family). It shows how deep seated and pathological their fear of their own children is, any independent thought is a threat.

for a critic, negative reviews can hold tremendous value for both artists and audiences.

but the vast majority of negative book reviews aren't criticism, they're consumer complaints equivalent to whining to a mcdonald's manager that they don't have clam chowder

Without Mel Brooks hiring Lynch to make THE ELEPHANT MAN — on the strength of ERASERHEAD alone — he is very likely just a guy who made a weird film at AFI. That whole filmography you love doesn’t happen.

this confirms something i have long suspected, which is that certain people are told that their professional and academic failures are because of “affirmative action” or “DEI” as a way to avoid difficult conversations about their mediocrity www.wsj.com/lifestyle/ca...
You Blamed DEI for Hurting Your Career. Now What?
For people who pin their failures on diversity, corporate America’s DEI retreat removes a barrier—or maybe an excuse.
