This scheme to make passports harder to obtain comes as Republicans are trying to make passports one of the few documents that can be presented in order to be permitted to register to vote.

my experience having been in large organizations of profit and non-profit designations is that almost across the board, the leadership are so terrified of making the Wrong Decision™ that it ends up as not just a desire to never have to make a decision but also a desire to never have to lead

Louisville resident here! Our local government recently made it so Churchill Downs (a billion dollar business) will never have to pay taxes for 30 years. This is while Jefferson County Public Schools is making hundreds of millions of dollars in budget cuts www.wave3.com/2025/12/05/c...

Increidble story half Brazilian/half Norwegian ditches team norway after experiencing lots of racism to ski for Brasil and have more say over his training. Then wins gold in Italy.

For Braathen, who had broken with the Norwegian ski team to join the Brazilian Olympic team, Kaepernick was one of his heroes.

AI is making your life more expensive

it is making the cost of electricity go up
it is making the cost of computer chips go up
it is making the demand for water go up

all for a product that is being made to monitor you, collect every bit of data about you, deskill you, and make you dependent on it

India's solar & battery plant meet "minimum availability requirements of 70% on a monthly basis and 85% annually."

This 301 MW solar & 1204 MWh battery produces electricity at ~6.9 cents/kWh.

New solar/battery plants often have lower costs than new coal.

live life in the analog

buy and make things you can hold
I fervently believe that the only way we free ourselves is to embrace a tangible retro future. Walk your dog. Write a book (draft in a notebook!). Knit. Do woodworking projects. Make book nooks. Paint. Buy vinyl. Plant a garden. And with that, I'm off to go sow seeds 😆 youtu.be/zkGk_A4noxI?...

the candidate he got mad about dropping out must've been a really good one is all I can say

never had a potential employer write a whole damn editorial after I dropped out of the running for a job
Thinking about the many decisions that get made when you turn your notes into a draft and what that looks like when the bot is making all of those decisions, even if you get the "final say" after the decisions have been made. www.cleveland.com/news/2026/02...

This is happening because OpenAI - a company that does not have anything even approaching a viable business model and is setting money on fire - used borrowed money to advance buy all of the raw materials for RAM production so competitors couldn’t get it
this RAM crisis feels like it’s going to ruin consumer electronics over the next decade. Bloomberg reports that Sony is considering pushing the PS6 release to 2028 or even 2029 www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

Chris Quinn is a bad journalist

there’s a certain type of Democrat terrified we might nominate radical candidates who will actually engage in needed change instead of status quo corporate centrist bullshit

in every election
I do think there’s a certain type of Democrat that realizes it’s possible we are dealing with a perfect storm where almost any Democrat will win, and are terrified we might nominate radical candidates who will actually engage in needed change instead of status quo corporate centrist bullshit.
One of the interesting things this time around is just how hollow the whole thing sounds. In the past, people have been able to use the empty concept of electability to anoint and position the person they demanded, but now that Republicans are getting obliterated everywhere, that doesn't work.
