Back in 2015, when everyone was laughing at Floyd Mayweather for his illiteracy, I wrote an essay about how bad the illiteracy issue is, and the history of forcing illiteracy on Black people in this country. It wasn’t by chance or personal failure that he couldn’t read, it was by design.
