Reminder that there’s a quick way to check if that account strangely more upset you’re daring to demand Democratic leadership act like an opposition party than about them enabling what the GOP is doing, is a new one made in the week or so after the election:

The amount of “this is clearly about oil” posting across all platforms as story after story comes out where the oil industry is saying that the oil isn’t worth extracting is making me feel a little insane

BRENNAN: You're describing the regime as still in place. I'm confused why the Trump admin only arrested Maduro. The chief thug who controls the police & has $25m price on his head is still in place

RUBIO: You're confused?

B: They are still in power

R: You're gonna go in & suck up 5 more people?

WELKER: Does the pardon of the former Honduran president undercut the admin's stated goal to go after these narcoterrorists?

RUBIO: I don't do the pardon file. I'm not against it or for it. I just didnt review the file so I can't speak to you about the dynamics that led POTUS to make that decision

DHS says REAL ID, which DHS certifies, is too unreliable to confirm U.S. citizenship
It's the punch line to a bad joke that started 20 years ago when Congress passed the REAL ID Act.

Given supply dynamics and trajectories, I think control of Venezuela's actual oil is less relevant than the message sent to other countries hosting US oil majors. If national govts threaten their operations by demanding remediation/payment of liabilities, they now have to contemplate invasion.

Yeah, people are fixating on a Cabinet Secretary being given a sovereign country to run because the president waged war without congressional approval and kidnapped the old leader. Weird that they’d get hung up on that.
WELKER: Mr. Secretary, are you running Venezuela right now?

MARCO RUBIO: Yeah. People are fixating on that. Here's the bottom line -- we expect to see changes in Venezuela

Speaking with the president is not the same as getting newsworthy information from the president. And Trump's dishonesty can often lead to unhelpful "Trump said" articles, in which what he says is centered, rather than the truth. I suspect it also leads to the excessive emphasis on Trump's moods.

From the perspective of reporting the news, it doesn’t strike me that there is a functional difference between a president who answers the phone at 4:30am in the morning but doesn’t answer a reporter’s questions, versus a president who doesn’t agreed to be interviewed.

It isn’t sitting in some warehouse, it’s oilFIELDS we’re claiming that were nationalized by Caracas in the Seventies. So yes, that means boots on the ground, and Hegseth having been stationed in Iraq knows this perfectly well.
🎙️🇻🇪 Trump said the U.S. is going to run Venezuela. Does that mean Americans on street corners in Venezuela?

🇺🇸 Hegseth: It means we set the terms. Trump sets the terms…it means the oil that was taken from us is returned.

The Justice Department and DEA logged calls from the USA to as many as 116 countries.
