I think the number 1 biggest problem in video games is that nearly every discourse cycle is a backlash

Yeah, we gotta bring some nuance back here. Yes, there are cases where a project has a very small core team but a mountain of contractors. But there's also an enormous number of games that are 99% by one person. They may interact with other humans from time to time, but that's just called existing.
Honestly, why? Why take away a title that's common in music and other arts. You can have a solo expo in fine arts, you can make a solo record, or perform as a solo musician. There are stage technicians, session musicians or whatnot involved too.
But in gaming, you're basically branded a cheat?
